Smallville Talk Ville: The Smallville ReWatch Podcast

Hopefully they enjoy Season 5 a bit more. Opens up with a banger iirc!

Talkville is back with Season 5

here's the thing I question about Clark losing his powers was this because he didn't finish his training with Jor-El?
but, like how was he suppose to do that without his powers? just seems like Jor-El jumped the gun on taking them from him but, I remember if that wasn't the reason

Clark was undergoing his training to. Prepare to face off against the evil that arrived on Earth in the second meteor shower spaceship aka Brainiac. However his training was interrupted by Chloe’s arrival in the Fortress of Solitude . He pleads with Jor-El to save her, to which he agrees on one condition he returns to him by sundown to resume his training . Clark disobeyed him and as result he stripped him of his kryptonian powers.

I might have missed the line about "sundown" but I also feel like he might have already lost his powers before then (or even if he missed the deadline... he still left him without a way to get back there)

TBF he assumed the "threat" was the other 2 Kryptonians, and did stop them (not knowing of the true threat of Brainiac....) so, he thought the rest of the training would be irreverent

sidenote: it's ironic that in these early seasons Jor-El is seen (at least in Clarks/and his parents eyes) as the villain of sorts, given that he is played by Terence Stamp (aka General Zod)

^first she was a witch, now she's a vampire... Lana real just can't catch a break...
(but, at the very least with Marsters joining the cast this season I found the Buffy references funny)

this does bring up an interesting question of... what would happen if you nuked a city known for it highly concentrated levels of kryptonite meteor rocks?

would this terraform the land?... would it actually kill off all the meteor-freaks or mutant them into monsters?... how far would the kryptonite infused nuclear radiation spread

Smallville: Season 5, Episode 7 "Splinter"
re-watched the episode (haven't listen to the Pod, yet) but, noticed on the DVD set I've been re-watching on there was "Directors Commentary" for this episode...
{tho, I didn't rewatch the whole thing with commentary on, I did skip around to a few key scenes to see what they had to say about it}

at one point the director talked about how Rosenbaum seem to be in a bit of mood that day about something, an instead trying to claim him down or anything, he kept just adding to his frustration and picking at him though out that day(s) on set, knowing that Lex has some intense scenes coming up, and thinking he could use that frustration into those scenes...

I'll be curious to heard if he {Rosenbaum} remembers anything like that happen during this shoot (or if him and that director ever talked about it since then) or if he just thought that director was a dick lol

overall I did like this episode (exploring the effects for different color Kryptonites, is always interesting) an it had a very different (almost horror movie like) vibe to it... an it moved a few storylines ahead too

okay so, this wasn't directly referenced but, one of the call questions did seem to being hinting at this as well... Rosenbaum seemed quick too dismiss it, and clearly didn't know/remember anything of what was going on behind the scenes

but, still a good listen non-the-less

watching this episode was a bit surreal...

the timing of this episode coming up on the re-watch is very topical to current events
