It is unfortunate that The Dark Knight has a versus thread for every film, from The Avengers to Steel, but, there is not one for the first major motion picture featuring Batman. So, have at it: which one is better?

Honestly, are you serious? What do you expect? Do you really think Batman 1966 is gonna offer any sort of competition?

Batman 1966 is a masterpiece.

The Citizen Kane of Comic Book TV show to Feature Film adaptations.

Shark Repellent, nuff said!

This thread should be in the Batman forum.

Really, this is about audience sensibilities. In 1966, the Batman movie was passable,
today......not so much.
Batman '66 was a campy, goofy romp, kind of amusing to watch, but only because
it's sooooo painfully cheesy.
TDK transcended its genre and set a new standard for Batman films, if not super-hero films in general.

Thus TDK gets my vote, sorry Adam West.

The mere fact that people are still talking about the 66 movie is a testament to its greatness. Let's see if people still talk that fondly of tdk in 42 years.

The irony is that the 1966 movie is the closest of any comicbook movie to it's source material...look at a 1966 Batman comic, and the movie/TV show. It's exactly the same.

By that internet comicbook fan logic, Batman the Movie is the best comicbook movie ever made.

And while I'm not for a second suggesting he's as incredible as Heath Ledger in the role, Cesar Romero is physically exactly like the comicbook Joker at the time - even Jerry Robinson has said this.

Every forum is the Batman forum; they just don't know it yet. I prefer TDK. My chief complaint with B66 is that it feels like I am watching a film for children.

So many TDK vs [other superhero movie] and Avengers vs [other superhero movie] polls

Batman comics in the 50's and 60's were for children.

The TV show was made for children to take seriously, and adults to laugh at.

100,000,000 votes in favor of Batman the Movie? The internet is the most beautiful place right now :funny:
I can't vote, I prefer watching The Dark Knight, but I can't vote on this poll

The power of Adam West must never be underestimated again!:woot:

That is such a kick ass poster :hubba

Catwoman was a 100 times hotter in the series than in any recent Batman movie.

LOLOLOLOL!!

Ok confess, which moderator rigged the poll like that?

This is the best thread ever. Every movie should LOSE against Batman the movie! I'm proud I voted for this film.

On a serious note, of course The Dark Knight is a masterpiece. But it's sad that some fans can't appreciate a different take on the material, and turn everything into a contest. Batman the Movie has many qualities; wonderful pop art design, perfectly arch performances, Lee Meriwhether as Catwoman, joyously ludicrous sequences, and chaotic bar-room brawl fight scenes.

Indeed, I've seen many fans on the internet criticize the 60's Batman show/movie for being ridiculous, not understanding that it is supposed to be. These fans expect the tone of the Nolan Batman, and that leads to them dismissing something different.

I recall reading one fanboy saying that the 60's Batman should be recut to take all the silliness out. That kind of sums it up for me. That would be like re-cutting Schindler's List to take all the tragic elements out because you don't like how depressing it is.

Well...if there is a market for My Little Pony among grownups, I suppose there can be a market for Batman '66 among adults as well.
