Read the spoilers on the last page if you so choose

Quick question for you, Shape - doesn't have to do with the spoilers much.

I'm not sure how on much you care/don't care about the Academy Awards, but do you think The Dark Knight Rises has Oscar capabilities.

And, if so, which categories do you think it'll get nominated in?

Shape,

I respected you not wanting to give the whole movie away. But when it got annoying for me (and I think a lot of others) is when people would ask things that weren't even huge spoilers and didn't give the ending away or anything like that and you would still answer, "Wait and see." Just my honest opinion, still appreciate you answering what you did.

One example that comes to mind is
Not even willing to confirm that Miranda is Talia, and no I don't consider that a huge spoiler because it's something most of us were pretty sure on anyway. Just wanted a confirmation.

This has been asked a million times. Even I can pretty much recite word for word what he's said (if TDKR can't, no superhero film can / cinematography)

:O Oh, whoops. Haven't been able to keep up on all of the questions asked.

But, only Cinematography?

I would have always figured it to be nominated for:

Best Picture
Best Director
Best Supporting Actor (Michael Caine)
Best Original Screenplay
Best Original Score
Best Visual Effects
Best Sound Mixing
Best Sound Editing
Best Film Editing
Best Cinematography

Thanks very detailed but is it all true?

Pretty much yeah at this point. It all flows from A to B (or most of it anyways) and the people that have given the most details recently (including but not limited to theShape and very recently and with far more openess for spoilers Film Freak and the IMDB legit guy), seem to know an excruciating amount of details that have been confirmed by others.

I think some theories and speculating ideas have been posted over at http://forums.superherohype.com/showthread.php?t=360263

I'm not sure what theSpape has said in that thread though.

I know! It's a nightmare haha. I keep only getting the same snippets. Someone should compile a FAQ / separate no discussion thread and update it with all of the info and questions, and leave speculation separate here.

some people want to watch the movie knowing how it is and many people do read reviews before wanting to see the movie. over all the experience what the director creates is what matters, you can have the greatest twists in the movie but if the entire package does not create a great viewing experience , nothing matters. even with dark knight many people do not truly understand bruce wayne's character and it hardly matters to them, they are blow away by the entire experience. the point is knowing something does not change anything. it something that people have in their heads.

Yeah, you wanted one but didn't need one. That was confirmed to as all many months ago. I answered like that for questions to which the answers should be completely obvious, hence my typical answer, "What do you think?"

Example:
"Does Bane expose Harvey's muders?" (posts pic of Bane holding up a photo of Harvey Dent)
"Uh, what do you think?"

"Does Bane get the upper hand in his first fight with Batman?"
"What do you think?"

I don't need to say "yes" to spell it out for you..

I haven't ruined the film for any of my best friends, even those who begged me to. Haven't ruined it for you guys, either, some of whom I also consider to be friends. Just not my style.

Posters here respected it at first and enjoyed the question/answers with me (that was great fun), and then turned on me and claimed I was on a power trip once I didn't let up with my stance.

I was just reading the board when you first saw the movie and began answering questions. People were all please and thank you, but when you were not giving them what they wanted they got pretty petty.

Like kids asking for candy in the store and when they didn't get it they had a temper tantrum.

Question Shape, please spoil this for me:

Please let me know why the kid in the movie Home Alone wasn't taken away from his parents after they forgot him at home twice?

and

You said it was not respectful to bootleg or spoil a movie, especially Chris Nolans. How about a Michael Bay movie, can we spoil his movies because I look at that as less of a spoiler and more of a public service announcement.

I think overall it's more cohesive and a stronger film.
Wow, that's saying a lot, considering TDK was already a cohesive and strong movie by itself.

I can't wait till next week. I'm taking a little road trip (2 hour drive) to see it on a true IMAX screen. This will be my first time seeing a movie in a true IMAX theater. I have seen plenty of 'Lie'MAX movies before, but if the experience is so much greater, then the drive is WELL worth it.

You did a great job, I think the frustration for some came from the fact that because you saw it so early on, it was really just you at the beginning, then scoop12 joined, but for a couple of days it was just you guys. Because you maybe decided not to confirm some things or didn't want to spoil the whole movie bit by bit, some questions went either unconfirmed or unexplained to the degree that they are being explained now.

As the release date approaches, more people see it and we have a couple more spoilers and more people to answer all the questions. For some, the goal is to reveal as much as possible so they do. For you it wasn't the case, simple as that.

Thanks reper35!

Ok so I just have one question to those who saw the film or to any other members who wish to speculate...

In the film, is it explained or even mentioned where Bane and Talia were during the events of Batman Begins while Bruce was training with the League of Shadows? Were they in fact in the prison or somewhere else? If they were in the prison, does it even make sense considering their ages and/or the timeline?

Thanks:yay:

Considering it's been a week or so since shape has seen it, and he has had time to digest what he has seen and he still loves it...means a lot to me, as so many people have such kneejerk reactions to a film as soon as they see it, that sort of early opinion means nothing to me until you let it sit in your mind for a while.

It is completely worth it, I assure you. Like the difference between night and day. Prepare to be stunned by the clarity of the image and obviously the fact that it will take up your entire field of vision.

Unless it's some huge, shocking twist, I don't feel that spoilers ruin the movie.

Reading a description and watching the scene unfold onscreen are totally different experiences, to me.

Which is why, while I actively seek out spoilers on here, I DID wish I hadn't watched quite as many clips from TDK before seeing it.

I 100% agree, if it is a film built upon a huge twist, it is best not to know going in, but otherwise it doesn't hurt my enjoyment at all. In fact, it can sometimes help since it is good to have an idea about what kind of film you are getting, and with Begins I had read the script before it came out and there was something cool about seeing those scenes come to life on film even better than I imagined on page (and I really liked the script to begin with).

Plus the spoiler crowd and thread seems like a looser bunch of guys. I go to the general info thread and those guys are really on edge.

I mean I asked someone over there who knows that Bruce Wayne is Batman and people freaked out telling me I just ruined the movie by revealing Bruce is Batman.

wait, bruce is batman?

AW MAN, F**K YOU FOR NOT SPOILER TAGGING THAT!!!! :cmad::cmad::cmad:

No doubt! Luckily I'm going to the one in Nashville and they have reserved seating. I bought our tickets about a month ago, and luckily there were seats right in the middle and we are sitting 3 rows from the top. So it should be a perfect POV.
