I hope there is no sequel, I just can't buy into the idea that:

John Blake would take over as Batman. The fact that his character was actually developing like another origin pisses me off, and even after a second viewing it's just mind blogging why Nolan included such a character in the first place. Not to mention, the character is pretty much a Mary Sue and would make a boring superhero.

hes not taking over as Batman at least the way I took it BAtman as a symbol is dead but Blake has been given all of waynes tech to continue to protect Gotham without a mask and without being a cop

I don't even see the point of that. Batman's legacy is idolized by the city and it is no longer living under an iron fist of the Dent Act due to a lie. I'd say Gotham is a better place with or without superhero Blake.

There's no way he'd do it without a mask.

Bruce explicitedly tells him to wear a mask.

Bruce/Batman seemed to be giving [blackout]Blake pointers here and there in the movie...unfortunately.[/blackout]

What did we all think of the
makeshift batsignal being lit?

My first thought:

Did Bruce really waste all that time, probably hanging off the side of the bridge or building just to create some elaborate signal that had to be lit by a flare, trailing all the way down to where Gordon might be? What if Gordon fell into the ice before he got to the flare? :oldrazz:

I'll admit, the first thing I thought of was of a similar scene in 2004's The Punisher.

Movie logic :oldrazz:

It was an epic scene, although yeah, it would of taken sometime. Man, if that doesn't scream the symbol for hope and doing the right thing I dont know what will.

Do we have to tag spoilers in here?

This movie had the best
Robin in live action and he wasn't even in costume :funny:

Im not against of Blake becoming next generation Batman. Its always Batman's own idea to pass his his legacy to someone worthy in comics (Robin, Mcginnis for future, a bunch of Robin/Batman mixture youngsters group of Dark Knight Returns...)

I havent seen the movie yet but TDKR Bruce almost seems like Batman Beyond version. Apparently he is tired and cant do it anymore, in this case his best bet would be either dying doing his duty (which is pretty moronistic by any angle to waste your life, Bruce learnt that.) or finding someone worthy to replace his legacy.

I totally think is Heath was alive he would of been
the judge in Banes kangaroo court instead of Crane

Hardy deserves praise...but the sound editors don't. Did no one stop and ask themselves...'the music/sound FX is a bit too overbearing, maybe this needs to be dialed down a bit?'

The sound balance was never this bad in BB/TDK.

Agreed

I loved it at the end I kept thinking god I wish I could see Blake as the new Batman and regardless of whats said Wayne's alive so if they really wanted to bring Bale back its dooable (I hope they don't mind), I would love to know how he survived the explosion though (maybe Superman flew by and grabbed him).

And I might have missed it, but does anyone recall any cheesy (Nice coat, That's not good) lines from the movie? Especially from minor characters? I'm actually thinking Nolan and the writers toned it down a bit this time.

When Batman first returns and the lights in the tunnel go off during the cop chase an older cop turns to his younger partner, smiles and says "Boy, you're in for a show tonight!"

Also, Bane had one or two funny lines. I think he thanked someone at one point. And he said "What a lovely voice" when listening to the national anthem at the Rogues game.

probably. He created Batman as a symbol for hope, remember. What better way to inspire the citizens to act by letting them know that the Bat was coming back to kick some ass. It's what got Foley out from hiding in his house.

Did any else find it funny...

That Bale essentially turned into Michael Keaton's Bruce Wayne in the 8 year gap?

Regarding THE important cameo.
someone said that Neeson was in two scenes and Ra's is alive. Did I miss something? I only saw him in the dream sequence

The other time was in
the pit prison rescue of Bane after Talia had escaped and found Ras.

yeah seriously, lol, all we really needed was a scene of him rehearsing how he was going to tell Selina that he was Batman.

I think that:

Lucius finding out that Bruce fixed the auto-pilot pretty much seals the deal on it being reality and not an illusion. Methinks people just have Inception on the brain. :oldrazz:

Indeed, because
as was shown in the visual while Alfred first explained going to said cafe every year, he said he always imagined - but we saw he never saw such. He always saw someone from behind, the back of a head, and imagined it Bruce until said person turned and he could see his face. In the final Cafe scene, he clearly sees Bruce and Selina and Bruce acknowledges him. IE, Alfred only ever saw reality no matter how much he wanted - before and after.

It seems that Nolan has stirred it up big time with TDKR...

Anyway, how was

Neeson's cameo

I'm too newb to start a thread for this, but were there any scenes in the trailers that didn't make the final cut?

I'm trying to recall a shot of Bruce possibly in a wheelchair.
