The Dark Knight Rises TDKR SPOILERS (read at your own risk) - Part 3

Personally, I loved this movie from the first scene. I did have a couple of gripes concerning:

The amount of time (3months) the GPD were trapped underground and their apparent apathy when they were finally freed.

The ticking time bomb plot device at the end of the movie was a bit tedious imo.

For anyone who has seen the movie did these points trouble you?

Questions for those who can answer them :yay:
1. How much screentime does Batman have?
2. What are Talia's last words?
3. What are the most emotional scenes?
4. The most violent scene?
5. Do the people of Gotham know that Bruce was Batman?
Thanks :yay:
1. Quite minimal, actually. In fact, I'd almost say out of all the major characters, you see him almost the least.
2. Can't remember the exact wording, but along the lines of "I've finished my father's work"
3. Alfred getting fed up
4. With the exception of the first Bane vs Bats fight, I'd say Bane killing Daggett (even though you don't see it on-screen)
5. Honestly I'm not 100% sure. I don't think so, because he only reveals himself to Gordon and Blake through the film. But Bruce Wayne being dead would seem to be an interesting coincidence for the people of Gotham.

I love the idea about Blake because it is such a Nolan thing to do.

I'll repeat my question :)
Is it ever explained, where the unnamed prisoner got his nick from (Bane)? I presume his true identity is not revealed?

There's a twist at the end of the film where the whole Bane / Tahlia / Ra's connection is made.

3 questions

1. Is the mob in this??

2. How emotional was it when Bane took Batman over his head and slammed him on his knee?

3. When The Bat blew up did you guys think, OMG Nolan may have just killed Batman!

I know Im going to catch some flaming for asking this, but...

is this the kind of flick that can be enjoyed on another level? like, take a few "party favors" right before we go into the theater?

1. Not really. The Dent Act has essentially ended organised crime (how is never really explained, but I assume it's like the Patriot Act).
2. I wouldn't say emotional, but it was brutal.
3. No, because I spoiled myself before hand :O

All I knew about the film was what was in the trailers. I didn't read any spoilers or rumors. I think this is what made the experience (particularly the last 30 minutes) so amazing.

Because of this, I was pretty emotionally invested in John Blake. He's a great character, good, honest, and he does what's right. I liked his relationship to Batman. This is why I was thrilled from what they reveal about him at the end. It sounds stupid reading it here on the forum, but when you actually experience TDKR, hopefully you'll be glad about who John Blake really is.

So what exactly was Bruce screaming about in the tv spots?

Please don't do that. This is a rather serious film, I'd think. I remember some friends and I did that to see Prince of Persia and one guy had the people around us cracking up at his commentary, but I think you should go see some other film that no one will be caring about enough to get into it if you're going to do that.

I'd say to blaze before, but it'll be tough to do on opening day/night because you'll need to arrive early.

i never liked watching nolan's films on another level. they're a little hard to take...for me personally. i need to watch them with a clear mind, haha.

I was wasted when I saw Inception and had a good time I guess lol for Rises though I want a clear mind.

saw TDKR that way (on my prescription meds) and it was AMAZING. My emotions run higher on that level and Im pretty good at not blabbing during the movie. Am I going to want my emotions intensified or no?

1. No.
2. I felt really sorry for Batman. It's sad to see your heroes get beat like that. But at the same time it worked really well for the movie.
3. No, but I can see how a regular cinema goer would think so, given they have Alfred crying at Bruce's grave, a Batman memorial statue and Wayne Manor donanted before we finally see Bruce alive at the end.

Can somebody answer this question? we've got all our other spoilers revealed and not this one?
Can somebody tell how Bruce breaks out of jail? what did he do to accomplish the impossible jump?

@thelostwayne:
He climbs out without the help of the rope (his third try) just like how Talia escaped. He conquered his fear. There were a bunch of bats that flew out of a crevice, which I thought was a nice nod to his first fear of bats

He climbs out of the pit on his third attempt. He did the jump without the rope, which doubled the danger of course. It's about not fearing death, and I think better movement, etc.

Oh yes, I really liked that. Chill inducing.

Okay so to clarify a major plot point for those who've seen it:

Talia and Bane throw Bruce into the prison as a way to punish him for his crimes against the League of Shadows. As Bane said, "your punishment must be more severe" and they punish him by making him watch the demise of Gotham City. This is why they didn't decimate Gotham City with the nuke right away.

Did I get this right?
