The Dark Knight TDK's Joker..too scary for kids?

I know I posted about this before somewhere but I agree with Juanigi.
I like the idea of Joker cutting part of Rachel's face, probably cutting a smile into her face. This way it when Bruce sees her it will kind of mess him up and mess with he head a little bit.
Here is the woman he loves and now thanks to this psycho she has this huge slash across her face.

Yeah, that there's a problem.
For all its talk of being adult, Batman Begins was still PG-13.
All of the deaths were 'clean'. Off-screen or a quick-kill.
They DID have all that stuff with scarecrow though (and the Batman demon-head thing), so I suppose they can get away with the Joker... Though I'll be interested to see if they work in the laughing gas (they used it in the Batman animated series, and it was pretty scary even though it DIDN'T kill).

Did i say that yesterday? I cant remember, but yes that is how they should be jokerized instead of gas.

Ya you said it yesterday but I finally saw Nip/tuck yesterday good show. But i still like my idea of the gas i think I said that yesterday.

oh yeah where they laugh while being carved. Best of both worlds right there.

The trick to doing something like that is you donn't show it you imply it. YOu know that photo of him with Maggie and the knife. End it with that and show Dent Gordon and BAtman meeting and Gordon gets a phone call
Gordon- ya?...Something happened to Mrs Dawes
Show her in the hospital with the bandages over where the smile would be but you could see that its makes a smile.

Maybe Joker could do a "Killing Joke" type thing with Rachel (like Barbara)

That would definately work. I personally dont NEED to see the bloody details :D
Still, I think I'd miss those painful Joker-gas death-grins. Always made the deaths that much more horrible in the comics... Sigh...

You should been here yesterday when how to incorporate the Joker gas. The Joker would use nitro with an oxygen mask like the movie Blue velvet. Now here is a senario a Mob boss is in a dentist office. the joker disguised as a dentist with the mask puts the mask on the mob boss then makes him laugh in controllably while Joker makes some silly dentist humors. Then the Joker shows his face takes some nitro also both of them are laughing in controllably, the Joker then pulls out a single blade razor and they are laughing and joker then have a shot with the camera behind the Joker and you here both of them laughing as Joker is shown doing strokes against his face not directly showing violence

yeah, that sounds like a good way to tie in the laughing with the face disfigurment without having to resort to a do-all 'magic gas'... but the first movie really did exhaust the fear-gas scenario so I'd be suprised if they worked in ANYTHING about gas in this one.

ya I have to see how it would look on screen

I like the dentist idea.
When they both start laughing and the Joker starts to make these corny/campy jokes but have them relate to what he is about to do.
Like the Joker says "A patient walks in to the dentist's office and askes how much does it take to get a tooth pulled? the dentist says 90 dollars. the patient then goes 90 dollars just for a few minutes of work?" Then the joker gets close to the guy and with a big smile goes "then dentist replied I can extract them very slowly if you like." then he starts to rip this guy's teeth out or something gruesome like that all the while laughing and eventually killing the man. But that is just the kind of scene I could see happening if they did something like it.

Thats for rated R Batman, which would be really cool for us older chums but little kids would cry.

I love the idea, but I just don't see Heath's Joker doing something like that. I mean dressing up like a dentist, and gruesomely ripping someone's teeth out in a dentist's office while telling corny jokes, I doubt Nolan would ever do something like that. From what we've seen/heard, Heath's Joker is the kinda guy who would just drag the mob boss behind a shed or in an alley, then handle him.

So it's not the Joker?

Of'course it's the Joker, but it's not Bob Kane and Bill Finger's Joker. It's not Grant Morrison's Joker, it's not Brian Bolland's Joker, it's not Frank Miller's Joker, it's not Tim Burton's Joker, it's not Dini and Timm's Joker, it is Chris Nolan's Joker.

Just as Ra's Al Ghul in Batman Begins is not Denny O'Neil's Ra's, it is Chris Nolan's Ra's. Big difference.

So you're saying that we can forgive BATMAN & ROBIN because its just "Shumacher's Batman"?

To strip Joker of his flamboyant nature and turn him into a horror movie thug completely goes against every interpretation of the character.

Thank god we actually have no reason to believe Nolan is doing this, but rather the fans desperate attempt at validating their devotion to a comic character by making them more 'realistic'.

No, because on a pure cinematic standpoint, Batman & Robin fails as a film, surely you understand this.

I don't think Nolan is just going to turn him into a horror movie thug. The Joker will still be there. Just don't expect him to wear a different brightly colored flamboyant suit in every other scene like Nicholson did.

Look, I'm not speaking of what I want, just what approach I believe we will get in TDK and what approach we have been given in Begins. We're speaking of this very thing over in the Two Face suit thread. I wanted Ra's to have a green cape and Scarecrow to have a straw hat and so forth, but I didn't get any of that in Begins. Nolan's vision, to me, is not going for more realistic, but more plausible. In real life, Ra's Al Ghul and Scarecrow are more likely to look like they do in Begins than they do in the comics. Do you see what I'm saying.
