Whatever we think or believe about this school....if the teacher signed a contract, which I'm sure she did.....and that is part of the contract, which it probably is.....then they have every right to fire her.
The principal is going to get fired for many different reasons like disclosing her personal life to the staff and parents.
They do not
Her sex life is none of these close minded morons business
I hope her lawsuit is successful
If there is a specific clause to this in her contract, or a doctrinal clause depending on what the religion is that the school is based on....then yes, she can be fired. Doesn't matter if you agree with the fact that they belief pre-marital sex is a sin or not, if there is a clause in the contract that she signed that states this specifically, she has no case. If it is simply an ethics clause which many school districts have, then she has a chance.
Gay, who joined the couple for the TODAY interview, said that pastors and clergy have the right to make moral decisions regarding church personnel, but this case is different because Hamilton was a teacher.
The courts have consistently ruled that a private school is just like any other employer. As long as theres more than 50 employees, they are governed by the law regarding discrimination, Gay said. The teachers are serving a secular purpose, and therefore they are governed by federal laws of discrimination.
