Teacher fired for premarital sex

The people at that school are pretty ass-backwards, but the teacher is an idiot as well. Not because she had "sex before marriage" with a consenting adult, but because she applied to a school that subscribes to a cult. They think one's private life, including a sex life, should be everyone's business. If you don't know that before you decide to work there, shame on you.

The principal is going to get fired for many different reasons like disclosing her personal life to the staff and parents. Even if he tries to quote a morality clause against the contract they can probably say that the contract itself takes away the employees legal rights like having sex as an adult.

The guy is pretty much a *****e for going the extra mile trying to do the math and find out if the teacher had sex with her husband before they married.

This is shocking

The principal is clearly a moron and unfit to be entrusted with the care of young children

Well... It is a Christian school. Parents send their kids to these institutions to uphold their spiritual beliefs and provide an atmosphere to promote such ideals in their children. If premarital sex is wrong, according to them, then why would it be OK for the teacher to get preggo out of wedlock? It is a contradiction. I know all you bible bashers with come right off and say Christianity itself is contradiction, but parents have a right to raise their kids how they see fit and send them to the schools of their choice, despite how closed-minded and weird it may be.

Both parties merit blame: the principal for making an adult's private life public and firing her over something that isn't illegal, and the teacher for not doing her work when she applied to the school

Whatever we think or believe about this school....if the teacher signed a contract, which I'm sure she did.....and that is part of the contract, which it probably is.....then they have every right to fire her.

Doesn't matter the belief system, all that matters here is what is in the contract.

As idiotic as the rules may have been, if she knew what she was getting into then she has no one to blame but herself.

Yeah.. Plus her saying she "was not clear" about the rules means she didn't read the fine print; ladies and gentleman I insist my teacher read the fine print.

That's too demanding. I mean, they have to create lesson plans, grade tests and homework, deal with the smartass, do the occasional protest when someone says something about teacher unions, and for some **** the hot student.

They do not

Her sex life is none of these close minded morons business

I hope her lawsuit is successful

But "god" told them so. You can't argue with the imaginary friend.

If there is a specific clause to this in her contract, or a doctrinal clause depending on what the religion is that the school is based on....then yes, she can be fired. Doesn't matter if you agree with the fact that they belief pre-marital sex is a sin or not, if there is a clause in the contract that she signed that states this specifically, she has no case. If it is simply an ethics clause which many school districts have, then she has a chance.

I have a feeling that her lawsuit will be successful. I don't think there was any specific clause about pre-marital sex in her contract. There may have been something about morality but that's too vague. If she has a good lawyer, I think she can win this case.

You are probably right, I certainly hope so.....because if there were any specifics like that in her contract, she was an idiot to sign it.

This is why kids need to grow up listening to George Carlin as a requirement.

Just because something is in a contract doesn't mean it's legal or binding. Like, for instant, if it has provisions that run contrary to laws, human rights codes, or anti-discrimination policies of the state in question. The contract would fail for illegality or the clauses would be struck down by the court.

Their lawyer even talks about it in the article.

Gay, who joined the couple for the TODAY interview, said that pastors and clergy have the right to make moral decisions regarding church personnel, but this case is different because Hamilton was a teacher.

“The courts have consistently ruled that a private school is just like any other employer. As long as there’s more than 50 employees, they are governed by the law regarding discrimination,” Gay said. “The teachers are serving a secular purpose, and therefore they are governed by federal laws of discrimination.”

I can see if she brought the dude into the classroom after hours and started roleplaying where he was the bad student and she was the horny headmistress.

Not that I've ever done or suggested such a thing.

Look at that kid. The Aryan gene is strong in that white dude.
