Teen asks girl to prom on national tv

This could have ended so badly. Glad she said yes. Unless she turned him down in private. :o

If the cameras weren't around she would have treated him like he had a disease.

It's like proposing in public. That's the sure thing. Any chick that says no around a bunch of people is going to look like the bad guy.

Hope she follows through. But she had to say yes. I mean that pressure... she didn't sound enthusiastic on her first yes.

I got a little creeped out when he said "That doesn't sound very convincing Tina."

I can imagine prom night going a little something like "Say you love me Tina! SAY YOU LOVE ME LIKE YOU MEAN IT!"

Katie and Walrus sittin' in the tree; E-Man has an R-P-G!:awesome:

Girl probably didn't want to go with him...now, if she doesn't go back on her word (which will also be taken as her being a *****), she's going to be miserable at her prom :csad:

I think doing what he did is sneaky, personally. It's like trying to force her to say yes.

Its very sneaky, thats why he did it because he knew she wouldnt say No on tv. Thats why her first answer was so unconvincing.

I always cringe at things like this because just in case the girl says no, I would feel really bad for the kid who asked. But I agree, it's kind of underhanded to ask in public because the girl basically has to say yes if she doesn't want to seem like a total *****.

Am I missing something here? The girl wasn't anywhere near the TV. The two segments were cut together. The kid asked her out first, then (presumably) SHE called in minutes later, and that's where the other half of the interview took place.

The spotlight was not on her for pressure, considering she took the initiative to get on the phone. Had she not wanted to go on a date with him at all, she would have ignored getting on public TV altogether.

Indeed. Being turned down on national TV no doubt to the jeers and cat calls of your peers? That is the kind of thing that would put any teen well over the Shinji Ikari limit in terms of Emo behaviour

She'd still look awful.

How so? It could be that she was justr not watching TV then.

If she called back herself and said yes then she was as much "at fault" as him.

The kid probably gave the show's producers her number and they called her for him.

If that is the case, I hope she gave him her number....
