? That's actually a very common thing.

Kid could be about to finish his 8th grade, which would put him in High School next year.

It all depends on where your birthday lies. If it's in a certain timeframe over the summer the parents get to choose when to start their kid in Kindergarten. They could start right after they turn 5 and be one of the youngest kids in the grade, or they could wait until the next year and the kid will be one of the oldest kids in the grade.

My birthday is May 31 (Yes, this Saturday. ) and I was one of the youngest kids in my graduating class. I graduated less than a week after my 18th birthday.

My little brother was born on July 14th and my parents decided to wait that extra year before starting him out in school, which makes him one of the oldest kids in his class. He's finishing up 7th grade right now and is 14. He'll be 15 all throughout his 8th grade year.
