A Sunday afternoon of video game goodness turned deadly this past Sunday as a thirteen year-old boy fatally stabbed his sixteen year-old brother in the chest during an alleged dispute over who got next. The younger brother stabbed his sibling in the chest twice, puncturing his heart and a lung. A tragic situation like this could quickly turn into an anti-gaming media circus if handled incorrectly. Luckily Lansdowne has one of the more sensible Police Chiefs.
"I don't believe the actual game itself was the cause of it. I don't believe they were acting out in any way or mimicking anything in a video game. I believe it was actual use of the game and whose turn it was," said Lansdowne Police Chief Daniel Kortan.
It sounds like he phrased that response specifically to ward off a potential wave of violent video game outcry, doesn't it? It's nice to see that situations like this can be resolved without immediately tossing the blame on our favorite hobby.
Thirteen year-old Jahmir Ricks was arrested at the scene, tearfully confessing to police upon their arrival. He is being charged as an adult with murder in the first degree. Something failed in this situation that had absolutely nothing to do with video games. Normal people don't go from arguing over who gets to play a video game to murderous rage in the blink of an eye.

Que Jack Thompson in 3, 2, 1....

They should have just bought games they could play together.

This is gonna turn out to be one of those "VIDEO GANES ARE EVIL!" thing.

What happened to the old days, when we would do the "four horses in a stable" thing, to see who was "it", or next. :csad:

The bright spot from all of this is that he gets next all the time from now on. Who wants competition when you want to play a game? It's ridiculous.

This is a good indication that it's time for sweeping legislation across the country.

blanket censorship = awesome

Holy ****, it's crazy little ****ers like this that give the rest of us gamers a bad name.

It's not surprising. When I was small and had a babysitter, the brother and sister pair I had to stay with would regularly choke, scratch and bite each other over who got to play the SNES console. I always figured something like this would happened if it continued when they got older. Someone else just seems to have gotten the same stupid behavior and followed through with it.

It's sad that it's news like this that makes people forget the "game" part of "video game."

Kids who do this. Just make me want to stab them. What happened to just beating the sh** out of some one! That way they live, & learn. You can't teach the dead.

remember don't blame the game blame really really stupid ppl with knives

This the future of darwinism.

Children killing weaker children for a chance to play Pokemon Battle Revolution.

Learn to share dammit. :cmad::csad:

that 13 year old is going to regret what he did for the rest of his life...and he should.

Uh no, if anything he blows other gamers out of the water. Many ppl say they would kill their own brother or sister to play a certain game. He actually goes through with it. He's hardcore and not like all the other posers out there.

This is stupid. You don't kill over who's turn it is.
