The positive hype is outwieghing the negative hype for this. Even on youtube and facebook where trolls and haters are well known to converge. That's a good sign, this film is gonna make be another BO hit. Unfortunately that won't change the critics minds.

They'll probably still give it like 5% on RT.

I think critics will be kinder to the sequel for "knowing what it is". The problem with the last movie wasn't that they tried to mix light and dark it was just very badly executed but it's tainted the idea of doing this in a lot of peoples eyes. By treating it like a kiddie Loonie Toons-esque cartoon there will be some who will give it a pass on it's flaws.

As for it being another box office hit. I can see this doing round about the same numbers maybe a little more. Certainly "embracing" at least in terms of the visual aspect the most famous version will win over a lot of cynics that walked out disappointed with the last movie but I don't think it will win over many people who didn't even give it a shot which is what it needs to make the kind of profit Paramount will genuinely be pleased with.

The critics do NOT like the Bay style of film, they will not be nice to Out of the Shadows.

Mikey freaking out over seeing Krang got me.

Hell yes man! I'm glad you're excited too Hunter.

The way they bring Krang's Giant manbot into shot is like :wow:...and then Mikey taps on the chest Window and grotesque Krang appears and freaks Mikey out. :funny: To me that is the Turtles I grew up on.

I don't expect them to rave about it but it I think it will be treated better by critics generally.

The growing number of critics that are of the right age to appreciate TMNT but didn't care for the first movie because it seemed largely at odds with how they remember be will give it more of a pass than the previous one for having those nostalgia elements in there.

Others will at least point out that as a deliberately stupid movie it does better than the previous one which couldn't make up it's mind.

*sigh in some ways turning TMNT into this loonie tunes-esque disaster will probably bode well short term. Like I said I can see it doing a little better critically and financially than the previous one and people will point to that as a huge win but it doesn't bode well for the future of the franchise.

Yes exactly! I felt the same way!

Right now, I don't see that happening but I've been wrong plenty of times before so we will see this summer.

That Mikey freak out scene. I feel exactly the same!

They're trying to go a lot more stylized this time around as opposed to trying to make everything make sense via the first one with the rewrites and what not. Using the 80s series, the Nick series and the IDW comics as templates is probably their best bet.

Krang's cgi is terrible and I wanted to shake my head with the way Donatello hit that window and had his tongue sticking out. It just reminded me of Jar Jar Binks for some reasom.

But eh the rest looks alright. It's the turtles and so yeah I'll end up watching it.

This was my biggest surprise of the night. I loved this spot. I was so excited to see Krang!

Based on what we know about the plot and characters they are not taking anything from any version other than the Fred Wolf animated series.

I know it's been claimed they are pulling from multiple versions but they claimed that last time and it turns out it was all in the visual department and I don't think much has changed. So amalgamated designs, visual cues and easter eggs drawn from other versions a plenty but anything in terms of story and character will strictly from the Fred Wolf series or their own Blue Door vision.

Like I said the approach with the last movie wasn't wrong it was just executed terribly. We didn't need it half a movie to explain how April knew the turtles but we did need it explaining who the turtles and how and why they do what they do. I know some people who genuinely liked the previous movie and (in my opinion naively) believed there'd be more exploration of that in the sequel will disappointed that isn't happening and Splinter really did learn everything from a book. As a response to the disappointing results of the previous movie though I'd probably agree a more stylized movie is the better way to win back audiences and it's no surprise they are going with more light hearted still I think the loonie tunes-esque stuff is too far and I think any fan holding out hope that there will be better TMNT movies down the line may as well give up. This will cement the franchise is "hey it's supposed to crap" to the general audience forever. If the trade off was that Paramount was making billions or the fans were indirectly benefiting with more quality stuff coming out as a result of the movie's success it may be worth it but that's not happening so it's all rather sad.

I can't help but see Jackie Gleason in Krang's robot body's jawline.

Still wondering why the Turtle Van or Shellraiser has robo arms.

I'll be honest with you guys. I thought Klang was gonna look stupid in live action, but it looks pretty awesome. I love this live action film looks almost cartoonish with lot of color. I think they are doing the best thing they could. I'm excited!

Because TMNT isn't Shakespeare, it's also aimed at kids and if that isn't enough Bebop and Rocksteady look like the cartoon so any **** flies.

Seriously though it was said a while ago that the turtle track scene was the first action scene in the movie. So the first taste of action in a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie is a road chase with flying sewer lids and extend-o arms. :whatever:

They could have at least had Donatello driving the truck and the other three fighting Foot on the roof or manning more down to earth weapons from open compartments like has been shown before on TMNT but nope it's go-go-giant nunchucks.

I'm calling this movie the sleeper hit of the year.

This looks to be the movie most fans wanted Secret of the Ooze to be

It's a garbage disposal truck. It has the loader arms. If I was a Turtle (Ninja) (mutant), I would definitely do something like that, with giant nunchucks. ;)

I wasn't feeling that T.V spot and I wasn't a fan of the trailer either. It's just not working for me and not because I wanted such a silly concept to be treated seriously, because I didn't, but because I just don't think that the footage looks good for what it is. I mean I like some of the nostalgia angle I guess but this just doesn't seem like something that I'd like. It looks like the first movie wrapped in the skin of the 80's cartoon and I thought the first movie was bad so...
