I searched the forum and I couldn't find a previous thread.

---------------

Trailer One:

http://www.gametrailers.com/umwatcher.php?id=3191

5 minute trailer. The graphics aren't anything to get excited about, but we can expect them to look far superior to this upon actual release. This was based upon the Tekken 5 engine, correct?

I think the trailer has a really unusual feel to it. I'm interested to see where the game is heading.

---------------

Trailer Two:

http://streamingmovies.ign.com/ps3/article/640/640139/tekken_080805_wmvlowwide.wmv

The original demonstration when PS3 was first announced. Virtua Fighter 5 looks no where near this good graphically. Tekken 6 likely won't either. Stupid demonstrations.

Questions:

[1] Are we getting Tekken 6, or Tekken Tag Tournament 2? Which would you prefer?

[2] How many new characters will we be getting? Any ideas on them? What would you like to see?

[3] Will the game be doing anything new? Breaking the mould? The trailer at the top of this post hints at a very different vibe to previous Tekken games.

---------------

I'm a big Tekken fan, so I'm looking forward to this regardless. I hope they give some kind of sneak peak at TGS, even though it seems as though we won't be getting anything.

I'd really like a Tekken Tag 2 with a TRUE tag-based gameplay system like the one in DOA series where you can string combos together using both of your characters and even have tag throws.

Yup, me too.

Tekken Tag didn't really nail the tagging aspect of things. DOA2 had a much better tagging system, and one which was just a lot funner too. I'd like to see a much tighter system in place. Some specialised tag moves where two characters are on screen at once. A much swifter tage system.

If all characters from Tekken were included as in the original Tag, there would be a massive amount of playable characters.

Eh. I was always more of a 'VS' series fighting guy.

XMen VS Street Fighter
Marvel VS Capcom
Capcom VS SNK

Those kind of fast paced games. Tekken and DOA always seemed to be to...boring I suppose to me.

I'm the complete opposite. 2-D games are better kept in the past for me. Fighters have moved on.

*bump*

Zenien, is the trailer you just posted any different to the one I already posted at the beginning of this thread?

ETA: It's the same trailer. It's not even new Zenien. You got me all excited for nothing. :(

I was always a big Tekken fan, but I ain't buying a PS3 for it.

What the hell is the storyline for this game again? I know it's a constant Iron Fist tournament, but is there anything specific that's happened?

The storyline tends to revolve around the Mishima Zaibatsu and who has control of the empire.

I agree.

I dont know why they have never expanded on the Tekken Tag concept.

That was probably the best out of the series because it included all of the characters.

Imagine how awesome it would be now if it included all the characters.:word:

I would rather get Tekken Tag 2. The main Tekken series has been more of the same since 4. 5 seemed like the same game but with new characters and levels. Im sure 6 will spice things up and change since its next gen but I would rather see another TT

I'd still go with Tekken 6 though having it include a tag mode would be great. My doubts lie in the fact that Namco doesn't really adapt well to next-gen consoles right off the bat. Tekken 4 is a very good example of this. It took Soulcalibur 2 to really give Namco a feel for the PS2, so I'm not really expecting much from Tekken 6 except the storyline, new characters...and Hwoarang:)

The reason they got Tekken 4 was so wrong was because they tried to change the basic fight mechanics too much. It didn't feel like Tekken feel. Tekken Tag nailed the feel of Tekken from the off, and then Tekken 5 refined it.

Tekken Tag 2 based on the Tekken 5 system with improvements would be a best case scenario for me.

We'll probably see that in a Special edition form available for the PS2. BUt one of the reasons I doubt Namco would want a tag mode is probably to differentiate themselves from rival Tecmo's DOA franchise.

Holy Lord, I loved Tekken 3.

I could pwn all as Eddy Gordo.

Meh, I hate Eddy, and Christie for that matter. They really are the delight of all button mashers. Infuriating.

Maybe.

I'm not sure Tekken needs to distance itself from Dead or Alive though with it being on a different console. Tekken already has a very strong identity of its own, being one of the first 3D fighters. Other games need to distinguish themselves from Tekken, not the other way around.

Agreed. Though there always will be certain...malcontents who would say otherwise. You know, the "DOA PWN TEKKRAP!" factions or the "TEKKEN PWN DEAD OR A-HOLES!" factions. DOA's done pretty well with the tag system to really make it their own. Tekken only tested waters with TTT and I doubt it will do so again unless T6 is a hit (big big IF). Maybe they'll do it by tradition: release a Tag game after every multiple of three. So maybe we won't need to wait that long. Lame. I know.

Still, if there ever is a TTT2, that Kazuya-Heihachi double team move they featured in the T5 intro/opening will be pretty cool

Or how about an online Tekken Tag? :word:

Man, I used to be UNBEATABLE at Tekken Tag......I wished they offered tournaments somewhere (with prize money) because I'm THAT confident in my Tekken Tag abilities.:word:

There are still some Tag tournaments out and about, though they're obviously rare given the age of the game.

Again, given me Tekken Tag II over Tekken 6, with an amped up tagging system.

I'd love a Tekken Tag 2 game with the Tekken 5 and Tekken 5 DR upgrades on the characters.
