Get your 'Wolverine' premiere tickets

The Arizona Republic

If you want tickets to the Tempe world premiere of "X-Men: Origins," you'll have to get them the old-fashioned way: get in line.

Beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, April 24, fans can begin lining up at Tempe Marketplace; 500 tickets will be distributed Saturday, April 25 at 9 a.m.

All tickets are free, and limited to two per person. The premiere will be held Monday, April 27, also at Tempe Marketplace. Star Hugh Jackman is scheduled to attend, along with co-stars Ryan Reynolds, Liev Schreiber and others.

On Monday, fans can begin lining up for red-carpet access at 5 a.m. You'll have a bit of a wait; stars are expected to arrive about 5:30 p.m.

Originally set for Harkins Cine Capri, the film will now be shown in all 16 Tempe Marketplace theaters. Showtimes will be 7 and 7:30 p.m.

Tempe won the contest by garnering the most votes in an online contest put on by Twentieth Century Fox.

I am definitely going to be there. It's right across from ASU. I've never been to a premiere of anything, so it should be pretty darn exciting! I'm going to try and get pictures and autographs.

Awesome! I was hoping someone from these boards was going to be close to the premiere. Make sure to take lots of pictures and come back with a full report!

Actually, I was planning to do a little more than that...

I fancy myself something of an artist, so I was going to do some large (18"x24") sized black and white drawings of each actor as their character and take them with me, see if I can't use them to flag down the actors as they walk by to take a pic with me and sign them :woot:

I was actually thinking of offering to let them have the pictures too. I'd just take copies with me and keep the originals. Maybe even thrown in a Scarlett J as Black Widow for Ryan to take home to the wife (Or a picture of them teamed up. Awww...Assassins in love...).

I did some small sketches last night, so we'll see. I'll definitely at least have pics and a report.

RED CARPET: The cast of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," from left, Taylor Kitsch, Will.i.am, Liev Schreiber, Hugh Jackman, Tim Pocock, Ryan Reynolds and Lynn Collins, are among stars attending the Valley premiere Monday. 20th Century Fox

When Hugh Jackman arrives Monday in the Valley for the world premiere of his new movie, the masses will definitely know it.

The Aussie heartthrob and the rest of the cast of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” will be escorted by DPS patrol cars from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport to Harkins Theatres at Tempe Marketplace, their every move tracked by local radio DJs broadcasting from the theater’s northeast parking lot.

Fans are invited to show up there as early as 5 a.m. Monday for a free red-carpet event dubbed “The World Premiere Event Experience.”

“We’re expecting an enormous crowd,” says Harkins spokesman Bryan Laurel. “Based on the number of phone calls, e-mails and walk-up questions at the theater, thousands of people are going to be there just for the red carpet.”

In addition to Jackman, actors Ryan Reynolds, Liev Schreiber, Will.i.am, Taylor Kitsch and Lynn Collins will attend the Hollywood-style event. Local personalities Shaquille O’Neal, Alice Cooper and Matt Leinart are also expected to show.

Commitments from more stars are in the works, according to a source within Allied Advertising, the entertainment promotions firm helping to produce the event.

The celebrities aren’t due to arrive until 5:30 p.m., but a pre-event leading up to their grand entrance will begin at 4 p.m. Until then, plan to do a lot of waiting around. Spectators are advised to bring water, sunscreen and other items to survive a full day in the sun. Food will be sold on-site from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The cast will walk the red carpet and appear on a stage at the event, where it’s suspected Tempe Mayor Hugh Hallman may present Jackman with the keys to the city.

“Our goal is to have as many people there as possible, as close as possible. It’s Fox’s way of thanking the community for being so enthusiastic about this movie,” says Andrew Ramsammy, a logistics coordinator working on the event.

“We’re hoping that people will be lined up along the sides of the red carpet, greeting the cast. I think the cast is going to want to stop along the way and talk to people, shake hands, maybe take pictures. The reason they’re doing this and that Fox held the contest in the first place is because they want people to be a part of the experience.”

That is really cool - have fun! Let us know how it goes.

This premiere has been one giant fiasco after another.

The evening will start with a 5 p.m. red-carpet affair.
Jackman and co-stars Liev Schreiber, Ryan Reynolds, Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins, Will i Am and director Gavin Hood will attend.
The main theater, dubbed the Cine Capri, will host the 7 p.m. screening with all the celebs, but all 16 theaters in the building will show the film at the same time.

Contest Winners Await 'Wolverine' Stars' Arrival

Bakery Feeds Fans In Line On Jackman's Dime

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Hundreds of people began lining up at Harkins Cine Capri in the Tempe Marketplace early Monday morning in hopes of getting good seats and a glimpse of Hugh Jackman and the stars at the red carpet ceremonies and world premiere of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."

According to a representative from Allied Advertising, theater and city officials are expecting more than 10,000 people to attend. Tempe won the chance April 19 to host the premiere after logging the most votes in an online contest.

For his part, Jackman said that he was thrilled over the fan reaction.

"I just found out that 900 people were camping out, waiting for tickets," Jackman told @ The Movies' Tim Lammers in an interview over the weekend. "It's exciting for me because I like to meet the genuine fans of the movie. The idea of doing a hometown premiere somewhere other than LA or New York is great."

According to KPHO-TV, Jackman showed his appreciation by ordering breakfast from Paradise Bakery for 800 people Monday morning, according to Harkins Theaters owner and CEO Dan Harkins.

"We are going to, like, save our trash and cherish it forever," said Ashley, who traveled from Utah to catch a glimpse of the movie's stars.

Jackman, the other actors and their families have around 200 tickets reserved, and they are expected to fly into the Valley at about 4 p.m.

The "World Premiere Experience," which is free and open to the public, is scheduled to start at 3 p.m., officials said. The stars are expected to arrive after 5 p.m., and the movie will start at 7 p.m.

The film will premiere on all of the theater's 16 screens.

On Friday, the Harkins Theater chain was forced to form waiting lines more than an hour before its tickets giveaway was scheduled to begin.

The lines for the giveaway were supposed to form at 9 p.m., but overcrowding outside the theater was so severe that some people were injured in the crush of the crowd, and police had to intervene.

"X-Men Origins: Wolverine" opens nationwide May 1.

Damn! Hugh sure knows how to make an entrance! On a freaking motorcycle! I'm proud to be a fellow Aussie like him :oldrazz:

Dangit. That's so awesome I'm all upset because my dad moved to the wrong state.

...Or because we're not rich and can't afford plane tickets to Tempe.

One of those.

I want Hugh to buy me breakfast too. :(

This was such a great idea from a premiere.
