Even if they are reopening in July, that's just Regal, and will they even be at full capacity?
Cineworld Plans for Global Reopening of All Its Cinemas in July – Variety
They haven't announced any more details yet, but I can't imagine that they'd open at full capacity. Also to take into consideration is that Disney World announced plans to re-open in July, but at "reduced capacity"-- although I don't think it's clear just how reduced that means.
But if Regal does open, it's hard to imagine AMC wouldn't make a move. I think we'll probably be hearing something about AMC soon. And of course there's still the question of the NYC and LA markets. Still a very fluid situation, but it does seem like there's a non-0 chance that it does open this year.
I don’t know if LA and NY will be open for business by July...
Images Show What Socially Distant Theaters May Look Like
Reduced capacity means they are going to cap auditorium and building attendance to a certain number that corporations believe will be equatable to maintaining "social distancing."
Even if theaters reopen in July, it seems very risky to make Tenet your canary in the coal mine. I doubt WB will want to make Tenet that movie.
Well thats surreal
I think moving it to August probably makes the most sense in that scenario. But if theaters open in July, does Disney allow Mulan to be the first big movie to open? Somebody's gotta go first, that's the catch-22 here.
Finally some leg room! Planes should be the same.
Few know that the ventilation ducts in the floor are there to release bees. It's the new immersive thing they are trying after 3D failed. It may feel a bit forced in some films.
I love how they have double seats for obese movie goers.
Not sure I want to go see Candyman now.
Even if they do this, there will be less showtimes during the day because you’d have to wipe every seat down after each showing which takes time.
Pattison is peak Nolan vibes here.
(sprinkled with some Mads)
This film is gonna end up killing me and I'm here for it.
I don't care about the plane. I'm here for Debicki photographed with IMAX cameras.
Ah, I see you are a man of culture as well.
Can Christopher Nolan Save the Summer?
It really feels like a lot of movie fans are yearning for the type of big screen experience Tenet is promising. Especially with us having been denied movie theaters for so long now, I think it's going to feel that much more amazing when we're finally allowed to go back.
