I guess I'm just a sucker for cheese because I didn't find a single line in Salvation cringe worthy, even the opening line "So that's what death tastes like". I understood why he said it (she was freaking dying) so it worked for me. Same with the cartoony atmosphere of the movie (which I agree with, it was very cartoony) which didn't bother me one single bit, I love cartoony. Whether they went that route or a more violent route really wasn't a concern of mine. As long as the movie is interesting and I can sit through it time and time again, I'm straight. I thought every actor nailed there respective roles, and LOVE abo****ley LOVE Christine Bale's John Conner. Every speech he gave over the radio was damn near top notch in my book. "Command wants us to make cold caclculated decisions" "If we do then what is the point" "They're going to ask you to bomb Skynet, I am asking you not to" etc. etc. etc. I just love Bale though (and in no way shape or form saw Bruce Wayne in his performance, to this day I don't know what part of the rectum people are pulling that notion from). Same with his stern yelling, he's in the middle of an apocalyptic war and part of the military, I dare you convince me he should have acted any differently. The man nailed it, in my eyes at least (as well as my nephews and sister, we all love the movie). The action was top notch and cosistant, literally every 5-10 minutes there's another action scene and multitude of explosions to keep you from falling asleep, and lastly, the homages to all of the past films

sure it had it's "minor flaws" (Worthington's accent slipping through, the Blair Williams character, the wrestling match between John and the T800, and the spike through John's chest at the end) but not enough to keep me from enjoying the movie as a whole.

could it have been better? Of course, but was it horrible, not at all, and it was leaps and bounds better than the carbon copy of T2 that was T3. Seriously, if you've seen and/or own T2, then you pretty much seen/own T3. There is virtually no difference

only 3 minutes of soldier fighting.

f.... you WB and f... you producers.

I found that death line very cringeworthy, and I didn't see anything special in Bale's performance. Honestly, Bale is a good actor, but he is not as great as people make him out to be. He was brilliant in The Prestige and was a solid Bruce Wayne (hate the Batman voice), but in TS, he was very one note. His character lacked emotional range and he didn't seem engaged in the film himself. Not like in The Prestige, where he was meticulous in what he was doing. This film, he basically is either preaching or wigging out. He does nothing else.

Everyone goes gaga for him in films, and he has some performances that warrant it, but then he'll do Public Enemies or TS and I'll wonder why people love him like they do. Good actor, far from the best. I'll take DiCaprio or Depp over him (and even now, Depp is phoning it in with crap like Alice).

They should have stopped at T2. T3 and TS are abysmal films that are poor excuses for films which are attempting to bank off of legitimately great pieces of cinema. They have failed miserably to resurrect the series, and have only opened up more and more holes as they continue the series. This is not the future Kyle Reese described or Sarah Connor built John to be ready for, and that is the greatest sin of these 2 films.

Marcus is a horrible character. A terminator with human organs. Stupid.

and the wrestling match John Conner has with the Arnie terminator hast to be one of the dumbest battles of the franchise. If a terminator is close enough to grab you, you're good as dead. They know how to kill people and wouldn't waste time throwing you around. Especially if they know how important you are.

BTW - I enjoyed the Sarah Connor Chronicles far more than Terminator 3 or Salvation.

Yeah. T1 set the tone on how a Terminator dispatches its mark. "Are you Sarah Connor?" "Yes.." BANG! BANG! BANG! Move on to next target. No time to throw people around. On this point, even T3 got it right when the TX dispatched Connor's lieutenants.

T3. Much more enjpyable movie. TS has Batman trying to be John Connor.

Batman growled

Connor yelled

there was A MASSIVE difference in the sound in his voice in both films

you people seriously reach with that one

but keep reaching

I don't think he lacked emotional range as John Connor, he was playing a battle hardened and emotionally exhausted character. I felt very engaged by Bale every time he was on the radio and especially when he's talking to Kate about Marcus. These are very powerful scenes in my humble opinion, just because he's not exploding like DiCaprio tends to, that does not mean Bale did a bad job. It is excellent understated and subtle acting.

I thoroughly enjoyed Bale's performance in PE as well, it was such a restraint and conflicted performance. The most powerful scene in that film is when Coltillard's character is being beaten and interrogated and Bale's character puts a stop to it. It was unbelievably moving seeing Bale carrying Coltillard to the rest room because his face said everything: a man utterly conflicted by what he's been reduced to. Again, it's subtle acting at its finest.

Bale is not inferior to DiCaprio and Depp: all of them have their different approaches and methods but they are all equally enjoyable.

When I watched Salvation, I didn't think Batman as John Connor. it's Bale playing another character. He was very good in the film. Batman didn't even come to my mind when I watched the movie.

glad there's actually poster's here that have at least half a brain (TheFuture, Two-Face) and understand the difference between growling and yelling

some of you though clearly need to get some cat scans done on your skulls because your perceptions couldn't be more off

As for yelling, it's a war. Look at the two scenes he does the most yelling in: at the start when he's on the radio and when he's talking to Marcus at the river: both scenarios where heavy warfare was going on. The noise would be mess up your hearing to the point where you don't realise you're yelling.

I can see SOME of the criticisms in his performance in Ts, but in PE he was great, dont see how anyone can complain about his performance in that.

And the fact was in TS he wasnt really given anything to work, he did the best with what he got.

Both are good but I prefer T3 more because it had Arnold and was set in the present and not the depressed bleak future of TSalvation.

Funnily enough, I didnt think the future presented in TS was bleak enough!

Salvation's on HBO right now. God it sucks. It tries too hard to be uber-serious and just fails. I had fun with T3, and the ending was great.

T1: Awsome flick! I wouldn't change a thing. 10/10

T2: One minor continuity error. According to the rules of time travel set in the first movie, the T1000 never should have been able to travel back in time. If you're willing/able to overlook that, it's a great action film. 9/10

T3: Absolutely dismal piece of crap that shat all over the first two films! Too much comedy, too many plot holes, too many continuity errors, etc, etc, etc. Absolutely hate it! Arnie should have ended his acting career by reteaming with Dino De Laurentis and John Milius and finishing off the Conan trilogy. 2/10 (and that's being generous due to the hotness of the TX)

TS: Much better than T3, but weaker than the first two films. Good action, decent overall story, and stayed fairly true to the continuity of the first two movies. With the exception of including Claire Daines' character from T3, they virtually ignored that giant turd completely. I didn't mind the "wrestling match" between John Connor and the T800 as much as everyone else does (if you recall, Arnie took his time killing Sarah Connor's room mate's boyfriend in the first movie, so there is precident for that behavior). And I would like to point out that in T2, Arnie was lowered into a vat of molten metal, which was still being heated, while in TS the metal was dumped on him. A slight difference, but it's the heat source that made the metal hot enough to melt, so it was more like him burning up in the oil rig in the first movie than lowering into the molten metal in the second. Plus it shows how John Connor got the facial scar he had in the opening scene of T2. I will agree on the "spike through the chest" bit and the weak ending. There were some other weaknesses and continuity errors that hurt the film, like the other military leaders looking down on John and treating him like he's just a grunt. He was supposed to be the one who organized them all and taught them to fight. All in all, while not a great flick, not a bad one either. 7/10

I didn't mind that actually. It makes sense to me that the military hierarchy would have issues letting a "civilian" call the shots. Their ego wouldn't allow it, even if Connor gave them valuable information.

True. But it contradicts what Reese said about John Connor and the war in T1, which is what I don't like about it.

In T1, Reese says that John teaches them how to fight back, organizes them, brings them back from the brink of extinction. In TS, he essentially gets promoted because everyone in the military who's of higher rank than he is gets killed from being too smart for their own good.

First two are two of the greatest scifi films ever made. Third and fourth were both really bad but Arnie alone was better than anything in T4.

Here's hoping they do not make anymore.

Agreed! This cash cow has been milked dry and it's high time it were put out to pasture.

Why shouldnt more Terminator movies be made?

Even if future Terminator movies are bad, I doubt it will destroy the previous movies in any way. Who knows... it may be better than the first two...
