Ugh...seeing Biehn just makes Courtney look like even more of a doofus. Biehn had a vulnerability and heart as Reese that no way do I see Courtney matching.

Yeah, he really did. In the original fim, when Kyle says "I came across time for you Sarah. I love you. I always have.", the way Michael sold the line, you really believed it.

Goddamn that synopsis reads like ass. I mean, Pops? Really? REALLY?

I'm really, really easy on casting announcements but the Jai Courtney thing has just stuck in my craw man. I don't blame him for taking the role but I do blame the people who offered it to him.

EXACTLY.

As far as I'm concerned, the Terminator series ended with T2. Everything since has felt like increasingly bad fanfiction, and this might take the cake.

Lena Headey would've been a great Sarah Connor had she not appeared in T:SCC.

I liked Salvation. It was way better than T3 and is certain to look award-worthy next to this turd.

The only decent part of Salvation was Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese....who got screwed out of ever being given a chance to do anything more with it.

Hell, I'd rather have him back than Courtney.

People are going nuts over "pops"? lol man.

Including "Genisys". That's just so stupid-looking. Like, just call it Genesis!

And then Kyle Connor?! And that completely freaking incoherent synopsis.

Perhaps Arnold's Terminator plays Do You Feel Loved from U2's Pop album over and over to cheer her up?

Yep. I kind of look at it as i do alien. The legendary 1-2 punch followed by such unneeded cash grabs. The plot doesn't make any sense. Who sent that terminator? If it was john, why would he need to send reese back? Why is sarah raised by a terminator? Wouldn't this all wipe out the great first two films! Why is Reese played by a generic meathead? What is all this hot garbage?

It's obvious that people aren't going nuts just because of the silly "pops" thing. I've laughed at the jokes but I haven't even mentioned it because as silly as it is it's the least of this film's worries.

Why do I get the feeling that somewhere out there, James Cameron is laughing his ass off right now?

I think Pops is more of an insult as a concept than a name. We already had the "protector terminator" in Terminator 2 and it sounds like they are just taking a blender to the first two movies and spitting this out as a retconbootmake to squeeze out one final trilogy before Cameron gets his hands on it and hopefully retcons the whole thing back to post-Terminator 2 if he does anything with it at all.

I don't think Cameron is coming anywhere near this project by the time this lot are finished with it. He's' not going to top his first two films as well.

Yeah, I have a feeling whatever slight, slight interest Cameron expressed in "going back and completely re-inventing the franchise" will be gone by the time this one comes out, yet alone two more.

The "Pops" thing, even though it sounds stupid as hell, isn't the main issue. It's the franchise's ****ing relentless pursuit to retcon the past and future established in previous installments. It's already frustrating to watch the films with the same damn redundant theme, "the future has changed," in every sequel, and this new one seems no different than the past movies. It's unnecesary, uninspired and convoluted crap.

I fully expect a repeat scenario similar to what happened with Salvation (which was also supposed to launch a trilogy) - this one will bomb so bad that Paramount will be forced to scrap the other two films.

Though I will wait and actually see this until I judge it. But even if this is a bomb, Cameron will never come back and do this. He never was going to. I think they had one chance and that was back in the late 90's when Kassar and Vanja told him they had to use the script already made. And even if he does, he's not the great film maker he once was. Everyone getting in arms about PG-13....trust me Cameron would do that if he made another Terminator. His ego needs to break BO records. I could not see him going back and making a smaller scale rated R film.

At the beginning of this announcement I was hoping that they were just rebooting the entire franchise. Which I think needs to be done if they ever want to continue.

But, I'm interested to see what the trailer shows us. After the other two terrible films, it will be interesting what this brings, either more of the same, or a slim hope of something that actually turns out good. Oh well if it doesn't, lots of other great stuff coming out in 2015.

Similar to Titanic, Cameron would just strong arm a PG-13 rating rather than actually cut anything to earn it.

Ehhh Terminator and Titanic are quite different in tone however. I mean Terminator is also known for lots of cussing, gore, sex (first one) etc. I don't think even Cameron could strong-arm lots of F-bombs. And gruesome deaths with gore.
