You're right about dvd sales being the gold mine, that's not what I'm talking about though. Domestic box office grosses mean a lot to the stockholders of these companies and they also almost always dictate whether or not there will be a sequel. Dvd sales can help if a movie studio is on the fence, but if there was a big negative response to the movie in theaters then it won't matter.

See? That's the point you guys are missing... WB and Sony are not the studios here... it's just these two guys from Halcyon, which for them it's the first movie. The point is... this brings them profit in whichever form... and they'll make another. And if WB and Sony don't want to distribute... then some other will. We're not talking a big studio that has to answer to stock holders. We're talking two guys that are newbies to Hollywood and got in this to see if they could make some $$$. That's the difference.

Honestly, this is one of the weakest summers ever, and its mostly because of the writer's strike IMHO.

I mean Night At The Museum was horrible, but Night At The Museum 2, good God even worst. Its not going to make anywhere near the money the first one did either.

I was beginning to thing that I was the only one who thought this, with all the praise I've seen on this board and elsewhere. Even going into this summer the only films that I thought looked interesting were Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Public Enemies. Star Trek was a surprise, but the other big movies have been about as bad as I thought they would be.

You're clearly not listening. I said earlier that no one is going to want to invest in the Terminator franchise after the last two films didn't meet up to their box-office projections (and were expensive as Hell to produce) and the television series was a flop.

These guys can pitch another Terminator film to whomever they please, but after the way Salvation fizzled out there won't be any bites on the apple. No doubt in my mind, they'll still have their "first right to refusal/pitch" meeting with MGM over another installment and will talk up a big game about how it's moving forward. But it won't get made.

I honestly would NOT be surprised if we start seeing TV Spots with flashes of Arnie's cameo in there. The disaster of a weekend they had with this movie (holy **** 43 mill!?!) the face of this franchise is everything they need to market this movie at this point.
