Terry Brooks Shannara Coming To TV

Wow. I'm impressed. MTV is going all out. Going to have to check it out.

Though, the little pop up whenever they play a song will be a weird disconnect.

Wowza! That looked better than a lot of movies. I'm very excited to watch this show.

Sorry posted another Thread on this cause I didn't see this one. When I tried looking it up. Yeah it really looks interesting

That looks surprisingly good. I wasn't expecting much given the MTV connection but I think I'll definitely check this out.

Hot damn that looks good. The effects and the locations look great .

Looks really good. I was a big fan of the books when I was younger.

And Manu Bennett as Allanon is an intresting choice. Not at all how I envisioned the character, but he will do a great job distancing the character from Gandalf.

Yes I think that is why they went with the short haired look.

Visually it looks good, but it's on MTV so I'm not expecting much.

Question, is the world of Shannara supposed to be earth far far into the future?

Question, is the world of Shannara supposed to be earth far far into the future?

Yeah, like hundreds of years into the future after a major nuclear war that decimated the planet, forcing survivors underground or to hide away in other ways until the earth repaired itself. New races began to form as various humans had to adapt to the new situations and became things like gnomes, dwarves, and such. Elves also happen to come out of hiding and magic was reintroduced into the world.

This looks great. I was watching the trailer looking for Allanon, having no clue it was Manu Bennet. I was expecting a black cloak, not the badass we are getting. In a strange way, Manu's Allanon makes me think more of Walker Boh from the Heritage of Shannara series.

Pilot always has a higher budget... But I'm very impressed by the trailer's VFX.

I didn't think this was MTV. I saw the commercial during the VMA's and thought it was a new Netflix show. Damn, MTV is not ****ing around. I give them a lot of credit for breaking out of their mold. I'm in.

I can't believe this is from MTV. It looks great.

Well damn, guess I'll have to look up MTV and see what channel it's on now, lol.

Hate that dude from Arrow, though.

I suspect this project was shopped around as "Game of Thrones meets The OC" which might be how it plays out on screen. The involvement of MTV might further bolster my assumption, sadly.

That sounds like a nightmare. :csad:

The trailer looks awesome though and made led me here.

Some thoughts seeing the new trailers:

1. I hate that Wil is so young and a pretty-boy. Not how I pictured him at all from the books.

2. Allanon also does not look like the character described in the books. As someone else said he looks more like Walker Boh than the Allanon in the first books.

3. Having the visual elements displayed onscreen will definitely take away from the mystery and realization that you get in the books. The audience will see the light bulb for what it is but the way it is described in the books and when you realize that it is a light bulb you go "whoa" there is something cool going on here.

The show looks great but the loss of mystery and the CW/MTV "pretty" cast is a deterrent for me. I'll still check it out because I love the books and have great memories when I fell into this world.

They have been stepping up in terms of TV, since Teen Wolf is a great show.
