The only way I'd be interested is if the Autobots and Decepticons were already on Earth. Frankly, the Cybertron part of the last RPG dragged so long, and I just found it tedious. Plus, having gone through that whole origin in the last RPG, I would be bored to tears doing it all over again.
That's one thing with the comic book continuity; even if the RPG starts before the Transformers arrive on Earth, the war is also being waged on many different planets under similar, if not identical, conditions as the battle on Earth. And unlike the movie or even the original cartoons,
disguise is a large part of their culture for both Autobots and Decepticons (the movie had a bit of that, but not much; and in the cartoon, they might as well have been walking around in robot mode 24/7, cuz disguise obviously wasn't a big deal to them).
And with the
Animated continuity, Megatron isn't a brutish simpleton like he was in the movie. He's also not dead. There's a number of non-Transformers villains to play around with as well.
The codes of conduct for the war, introduced in the new comics, are amazing story angles, and give Ultra Magnus a new and interesting role as a bounty hunter that enforces those rules of conduct, instead of just being another soldier under Optimus. Or Magnus could be the stoic veteran from
Animated.
I mean, ideally, everyone will be happy and both TF RPGs can be made; one based on the movie, and one based on the new G1 comics/Animated. All the same, however, I
am curious about what the plot of a movie-based game would be, considering that Megatron is dead, the cube is destroyed, the world is aware of the Transformers' existence, and Cybertron is supposedly a barren wasteland.
