WandaVision Teyonah Paris is Monica Rambeau

I knew who she was (and her name) since Chi-Raq but I think Monica is going to be a super popular MCU character and give her that international recognition. I mean how many people know Tom Hiddleston only as Loki or Chris Hemsworth only as Thor? The answer is everybody, no matter what else they do.

I hope she'll get a costume eventually because she'll look great in one. I'd love the classic Captain Marvel one personally.

american
I'm about 4 shades darker as african-american adult compared to my youth. There's absolutely nothing abnormal a person going from the complexion as a kid to an adult. I would actually push further back on that as I don't know many people that are the exact same complexion from baby to child to adult.

Well I never said people stay the same complexion. I DID say people's complexion don't change to the degree shown between Parris and the child actor, who wasn't a baby BTW. Half my family are/were light skinned black folks. My dad for example. When he died in his 70s had his skin tone changed over the years to where he was as brown as me? Nope. Now maybe I should've said people's skin tone don't "typically" change to that degree, to ward off any nitpicking or someone going to the trouble to find some rare circumstance in which someone (not a baby lol) went from Prince's skin tone and ended up Wesley Snipes' skin tone lol.

Yeah, this is going to be the biggest role of her career.

Teyonah is more like Geraldine than Monica in real life.

So true. Ever since Monica left the Hex in Episode 3, she's become a totally different person. I miss Geraldine. :(

Marvel does a bad job of writing female superheroes, sadly.

The skin tone thing stuck out to me too when Akira Akbar was cast as young Monica in Captain Marvel. At the time, my two top choices for adult Monica were Nicole Beharie and Teyonah (I was thrilled when she was cast, as I rarely get my pick for a character). But, I didn't necessarily see Akira (who did a wonderful job) growing up to look like Teyonah...maybe Nicole, but not necessarily Teyonah.

(As a sidenote, I thought Akira and Sonequa Martin-Green may have been a match, though: )

That said, again, I am thrilled that Teyonah landed the role, and she has been outstanding! She really was the ideal choice in every way.

If Monica Rambeau doesn't get her own movie, then she should at least get her own Disney + show where the focus is on her and it tells her story rather than playing second fiddle to Carol Danvers.

If Photon had been there in the fight against Thanos, wouldn't she have been extremely formidable against him? How would he have been able to even grab hold of her at any point since she would be able to convert her body into all forms of energy? She would be completely intangible but able to blast him with radiation, blind him, etc.

That could change in episode 8, but right now, Monica has no powers that she can use for combat so unless she develops them in the two episodes, we may not see it until Captain Marvel 2.

:huh::huh::huh::huh::huh:

Of course she's different from "Geraldine". That wasn't who she really was.

I understand that. But I wish she kept some of the warm nature of Geraldine. Even though most of that personality was "fake", I think some of it was real.

If ya’ll aren’t following Teyonah on Instagram, DO IT RIGHT NOW. She posted a video of her dancing to the Agatha song and it’s everything good in this world.

It's actually in her stories so won't last long and will be gone unless she reposts it as a regular post.

Yeah, that’s why I was telling people to hurry up and follow her so they don’t miss it.

Finally caught up with the show and Teyonah Paris has been killing it. Really hope she becomes a major MCU player.

While I do think that Monica meeting most of the Avengers will be a positive one, I kind of want to see her meet the Guardians of the Galaxy, just to get her reaction to Rocket and Groot.

She should be. As much as I enjoyed that Monica finally gets her powers going through the Hex one more time, her powers are not actually that impressive right now. She's going to need powers for combat and I hope we see that in the next two episodes.

You want to see powahs.. I just want to see her react to her having powers, and then give us the whole shebang naturally over time... She's had powers for like what, 30min?

Let the story breathe...

I hope she gets a few more in the last two episodes.

Maybe the reason Monica is angry with Carol at the mention of the Captain Marvel name is because she wanted that name for herself as she was actually Captain Marvel before her. :p
