Thanksgiving/Christmas 2010

So this is just for Americans and Christians?

Way to be unsupportive of other nationalities and creeds. :down

I noticed the first Christmas adverts and promotions creeping in this week. Give it about a fortnight and we'll be completely taken over.

. Canada has Thanksgiving I think. Like in October. And um...other creeds and nationalities have their own things during this time of the year. Way to over react. If the poster wanted to be PC...he or she could have made topic 'Holidays:November/December...

I'll imagine I'll be eating food somewhere and watching a movie in theaters on X-Mas.

Thanksgiving is the worst holiday ever, but commercial Christmas isn't too bad. Christian Christmas and Chanukah also suck. I know nothing of Kwanzaa aside from the fact that it's a harvest thing and thus shouldn't count in temperate areas in the northern hemisphere.

I see the usual complainers and whiners showed up.

I wasn't whining. I was firmly stating my opinions as if they were facts while using a deep baritone. :argh:

This certainly isn't in the spirit of Kwanzaa. :(

This year my girl and I are going to have to go cheap on gifts and make gift baskets again like last year.

Can't wait for Thanksgiving though, I always pig out then take a nice nap.

Thanksgiving/Christmas is my favorite time of year; I've got a real romanticized ideology concerning these holidays. Always have, though the past two seasons have been pretty lonely since my fiance and i broke up. I'm looking to make this year's holidays make up for it, even if I gotta call 1800rentahooker. :P

No no no no no no no!

Not only do I want to hold on to the Halloween spirit for at least a few more days, but being employeed in a grocery means the worst is on its way. The tips around the holidays are good, but the season known for brining the best out in people also brings out its worst. Plus I like the scary/cheesy movies of the Halloween season, vs the overly sentimental Holiday stuff. And I mean I do believe in God and the stuff about the true meaning of Christmas, despite what details about the time of year etc. that people like to ***** about, but as I've gotten older the holiday season just doesn't feel like it used to. Sure as a kid of course it would be different, and maybe it is seeing the tre nature of the real world, but even being happy with my whole family around, it just doesn't feel the same anymore.

i can agree with that. Its why I'm got this real romanticized view of it all - I'm 25 years old and I'm trying to recreate what the holidays used to be like, or find a new way to enjoy them/find meaning in them as an adult.

Does anyone else do this, where you'll buy gifts for people but also but one good gift for yourself?

For the past 3 years me and my mom have done this. She'll buy something for me and I'll buy something for her (her's usually being the better gift) and then we'll both just buy something cool for ourselves.

I've read in books that black people celebrate Kwanzaa, but I can't for the life of me find one who does.

I smell another Festivous miracle in the air!!

Back when I could afford it I would do the same thing. If I'm in Best Buy looking for a CD or movie for someone, I sure as hell am not going to be walking out of there without getting a movie for myself. :woot:

I agree with both of these sentiments i feel we lose a little bit of that christmas magic when we get older. but since i have kids now. I want to recreate new ways for me to have fun with them once they are old enough.
