I often hear this when people discuss films made in the 1980's either in forums, articles or in video reviews/retrospectives on YouTube. But.. What does that actually mean to you? Because while for sure I get there are certain "trends" of the pop culture, or the culture in general that will be featured in a film taking place in the time it's made, there is often also an analysis made in hindsight about things that just have a supposed vibe about them that many think is indicative of the era. Then there are simply popular character types, plots, onscreen contrivances, cliches of the time etc. that it seems people say are of the moment. So... What are these things to you? Are there ones you feel are lumped into this rubrik which you don't think should be? Are people just lumping stuff under this heading when in fact what they mean is something else?
