I often hear this when people discuss films made in the 1990's either in forums, articles or in video reviews/retrospectives on YouTube. But.. What does that actually mean to you? Because while for sure I get there are certain "trends" of the pop culture, or the culture in general that will be featured in a film taking place in the time it's made, there is often also an analysis made in hindsight about things that just have a supposed vibe about them that many think is indicative of the era. Then there are simply popular character types, plots, onscreen contrivances, cliches of the time etc. that it seems people say are of the moment. So... What are these things to you? Are there ones you feel are lumped into this rubrik which you don't think should be? Are people just lumping stuff under this heading when in fact what they mean is something else?

Discuss.

Hmmmmmm........

For the action genre I would say there were a lot of crappy sequels ( except Terminator 2 ) but John Woo burst onto the American scene with a bunch of gunplay flicks - Broken Arrow, Hard Target, Face Off.

You forgot Hard Boiled.

You forgot Hard Boiled.

While Hard Boiled is one of Woo's best films ( I love the teashop gunfight) I left it off the list because it was his last Hong Kong flick before he tried his luck with Hard Target.

I did forget Mission Impossible 2, Paycheck and Windtalkers.
