The 100 Greatest Quotes from Fundamentalist Christian Chat Rooms

"You can have all the faith you want in spirits, and the afterlife, and heaven and hell, but when it comes to this world, don't be an idiot. Cause you can tell me you put your faith in God to put you through the day, but when it comes time to cross the road, I know you look both ways."

"I choose to believe that the white light people sometimes see... they're all just chemical reactions that take place when the brain shuts down.... There's no conclusive science. My choice has no practical relevance to my life, I choose the outcome I find more comforting.... I find it more comforting to believe that this isn't simply a test."

Were Adam & Eve the first humans?
Yes.

"You can have all the faith you want in spirits, and the afterlife, and heaven and hell, but when it comes to this world, don't be an idiot. Cause you can tell me you put your faith in God to put you through the day, but when it comes time to cross the road, I know you look both ways."
Why is it deemed idiotic for someone's allegiances to lie outside this world? I can honestly say that I know God. I use the word "know" rather than "believe" deliberately. Mere belief allows for the possibility of doubt, but a person can gain knowledge of God through His Word, faith, and personal experiences with the Holy Spirit. Just because the world deems such knowledge pointless or impossible, doesn't make it so.

"I choose to believe that the white light people sometimes see... they're all just chemical reactions that take place when the brain shuts down.... There's no conclusive science. My choice has no practical relevance to my life, I choose the outcome I find more comforting.... I find it more comforting to believe that this isn't simply a test."
An alcoholic is often comforted by his booze; a rapist in forcing his sexuality onto others against their will. A murderer can find comfort in killing other people, while a drug addict finds similar results with his addiction...yet all these behaviors are inherently destructive. Rejection of Christ as Savior does the exact same thing on a spiritual level. People may find comfort in it, but eventually, it will destroy them.

Wow, another thread that bashes Christianity, why am I not surprised? :whatever:

Some folks just want to rage endlessly against the truth, that's all. And what's more, true Christians become the target for every swear word in modern vocabulary (and probably a few more that aren't). The haters assume that Christians blindly follow God's rules, without question, 24/7. Well, I got news for them - there's stuff in the Bible I don't understand very well, and even more stuff I border on hating completely. But in the end, I didn't make the rules; God did. If I am to follow Him, then sometimes (even though I don't like it), I choose to trust that He knows what's right, more than anyone else.

Does the concept of hell strike anyone else as silly?

I think why some consider it silly is because their information of it comes from sources outside the Bible. Dante's work helped paint a very innacurate portrayal (by Scripture's standards) of the fate which awaits the unrepentant after death. Jesus described a place of eternal torment (not torture - there is a difference), where the fire never goes out, and where there will be gnashing of teeth. It's a place completely devoid of everything God is: light, life, goodness, kindness, joy, peace, contentment...nothing positive exists in hell...period.

Unfortunately, people have widely accepted a depiction of hell is some firey realm, with chains, spikes, cackling demons...you get the idea. That sort of description is modeled more after Milton or Dante than Scripture.

actually if anyone gets the chance they should read the divine comedy its not exactly funny but it is definitely descriptive

I feel that in tune with Jesus' beliefs, he wouldn't turn away a soul just because they didn't accept him as their savior . . . what if you were a Bhuddist? You follow the same basic ideals and values, but in a different form . . . seems to me that if you do good in life, in your own heart Jesus would want you to kick it with him . . .

yeah people seem to think Jesus was nice read the sermon on the mount and then say what you think

What you said in bold always reminds me of the question I had years ago. Why does God create us anyways to put us through all this???

Then I realized if he and Satan do exist, they are playing the biggest 'game' of "Who can collect the most souls". I just didn't see the need for us, in God's eyes other than to be pawns in their little game.
 WE ARE POKEMON FOR GOD AND THE DEVIL.

THE MEANING OF LIFE, REVEALED!

best post ever

[about a girl being born with mental disabilities]

This girl is like a leper so what she needs to do is try and find god

if she really believes she can be healed from this state, she will be healed from this state

Most afflictions like this are caused by sins committed while still inside the womb. If she can repent for what she does god will embrace her and make her as human as you or me but if she chooses not to she'll always be like this

god tests every one of us [emphasis added]

oh and moviefan quick question

if Noah had two of every animal aboard the ark what did he do about fish?

"The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft, destroy capitalism, and become lesbians."

when i hear stuff like this in all seriousness it makes me worry for the world

it was a FLOOD! the fish were quite alright;)

I know it was a flood but it is clearly stated he had two of EVERY animal and as I am pretty sure fish come under that title what did he do about fish

The amount of offended, insulted, and angry disbelievers all across the SHH Community boards has been proving every spiritual point I've made. Spreading the truth inherently causes division; it's sad, but it does happen, especially when someone carries a lot of repressed anger towards God for allowing a particular pain. Nothing I or any other Christian can say will answer every question anyone has. Sometimes, all you can do is trust Jesus...and if you choose not to, then you've made your choice. As much as He loves us, God will not force Himself or His ways upon anyone. He will confront people with the truth in love, but if they still choose to reject it, then so be it. He will honor their decision either way.

There's that blind faith.

Also one would think a guy so in touch with Jesus, the man who said let he who is without sin cast the first stone, and that guy having had a past porn addiction (a nice big ole sin), would mean he might shut up and step aside for the real judges (two much more highly qualified individuals than himself) to say the final word on people.

Or would that be owning up to hypocracy and an admission that you just like being 'holier than thou' instead of actually following the teachings Christ. And seeing as you compared yourself to Christ, and not the good way, I think everyone already knows the answer.

some of these quotes are truth, some of them are pure ignorance on the part of the unlearned christian.

you do not use so called "blind faith" just because you don't want to explain.

JUST SAY YOU DON'T KNOW.
Then go find out the answer by ACTUALLY STUDYING what you SAY you believe instead of using circular foolishness that will solve nothing but making you look like an IDIOT.

Sometimes I wish Jesus would come down on a cloud and punch people like Pat Robertson in the face.

to be honest, why argue?

it can end one of 3 ways.

1. there is no God and we all die then we'll be okay.
2. there is a God and it's a loving peaceful God and everyone goes to heaven.
3. there is a Jesus and were all screwed...cept the mormons cause they will get their own planet and many wives to replenish that planet with life :o

But, people claiming to be Christians will attempt to legislate laws to do just that.

I'd be more curious about the animals that live nowhere else on Earth than a place that Noah couldn't reach. Like the Kangaroo, Platypus, among hundreds of others.

BADASS. I could totally see that in new scriptures:

"And the Lord thy God decended from the Heavens, clad in a white sheet. He came upon the deciever Pat Robertson and totally knocked him the f**k out."

:woot:

I'm not that well-read on the Bible, but wasn't there something about the animals coming to him?

Why is it that so many Christians are so unlike Christ?

Why is it that so many Christians are so unlike Christ?

That is the sad truth, unfortunately. I attend church weekly, but I am definitely one of the most imperfect Christians out there, but it isn't for lack of trying to be good.
