It's the first debate since the round of five caucuses a few weeks ago! The debate takes place on February 22nd at the Mesa Arts Center in Mesa, Arizona and will air on CNN at a time yet to be determined. Will you be watching?

(In keeping with the tradition of the 2008 election season...all debates, primaries, and caucuses will have their own threads to ensure that the political forum continues to run smoothly.)

Discuss. :yay:

Strangely I have been missing the weekly comedy sketch. Nice to see another debate nearby. Romney could seal the deal with the debate or have a massive blunder setting him back worse than SC.

I love watching these debates for entertainment value, but I stopped taking them seriously a few years ago. Conservative nonsense is funny to watch, but only in small doses. Once you start remembering that millions of people believe this crap it stops being funny.

I can't imagine the candidates want this many debates. Two, maybe even three would be alright. But 20 of them? It's a great way to be overexposed and look unpresidential.

Santorum/Romney decide not to participate in the CNN Debate in Atlanta. Basically, they don't want to give Newt to do what he does best, in his home state.....home court advantage.

As predicted, Santorum trying to pretend fiscal conservative.

Who we trying to kid, Santorum wants to criminalize contraception

I decided to skip this debate in order to watch Whitney.

I decided to skip this debate in order to watch Survivor.

man it seems like even Paul is getting more air time than Gingrich

I decided to skip this debate and watch Survivor and Modern Family. I'll catch the highlights on CNN later. You know they'll have to "break it down" until midnight. :oldrazz:

Hahah Romney just told King he is dodging the question :woot:

These debate threads are getting shorter and shorter. lol.

I thought Paul made a good argument against Santorum's derp'ing over contraceptives. You can't blame contraceptives, it's the character of the user. He used an example where no lefty would use, which is "guns don't kill people, people kill people".

I don't get the controversy. Are we supposed to believe none of them have used contraceptives?

Judging by how many kids Santorum has, I believe that he has never used a contraceptive. Ron Paul and Mitt Romney also have quite a few kids (though not on Santorum's level). I also think that contraceptives weren't as freely available when Ron Paul was having kids as they are now.

Gingrich also looks like the kind of guy that refuses to use condoms, in the sleaziest way possible. He just looks gross that way.

Well, you got me on Ron Paul. As for the rest, let them swear an oath.

Contraception is actually being debated in 2012?

What a joke.

The controversy is that none of them are women and it's women's use of contraceptives that is up for debate. Lose a few (or few million) sperm, who cares, right? But ZOMG a woman can't do anything that might prevent a fertilized egg from implanting.

I bet these guys don't know (or would go LALALALALA to prevent himself from knowing, especially Mr. Frothy) that many women take hormonal birth control for legitimately medical reasons and not because they want to do away with their fertilized eggs.

If I could get away with not taking hormonal birth control, I would, but ya know, I kinda like being able to function during that time of month. Who's gonna pay for my sick days if I have to go without? Santorum supporters? :funny:

My thoughts exactly. Santorum is now trying to pretend that he is just stating his opinion. He's a creep who wants to restrict then outlaw birth control for women. He's not fooling me.

He also wants to police the Internet. Somone had asked him about SOPA. You can find the video on youtube. I won't post it here so that I don't take us off topic. Of the candidates I don't feel as if Santorum has any backbone. No stand and be true about him so to speak.
