The 2012 CNN/Tea Party Republican Presidential Debate

To be fair to Perry...Social Security is a Ponzi scheme. You are paying money into a system that does not gain any profit and then that money is being spent on others in hopes that others will pay for you in 50 years. There is no Social Security fund gaining interest on the money you put into it so that when you retire you have more money than you put in. It solely relies on others.

Well that was entertaining and informative. Perry tentatively held his ground though. Ron Paul was right about Saudia Arabia, but another example of how he doesnt know how to hold his mouth at times even if he is right. The question on how to attract Latino voters was cringing though. Terrible responses in general. Texas also is in the process of considering another DREAM act style bill except rather than college being a pre-req for citizenry, military is emphasized, which either way is a good thing. Perry pulled the right move by not backtracking on his bill in Texas.

The Vaccine shots were crazy though, no pun intended.

Believe me...people here in Texas went crazy over Perry's mandatory vaccination bill.

I thought the eye opener was Bachman GRILLING Rick Perry on the vaccination and the money Perry received from a pharmaceutical company for pushing their vaccine

did anyone feel like the moderator was kind of ignoring Bachman??

it seemed like it was either Gov. Perry this, Gov. Romney that........

I love how the audience at these GOP debates give the biggest cheers for executions and uninsured people dying. They seem like wonderful human-beings.

Besides his abhorrent and disastrous policies, Perry reminds me of W as played by Josh Brolin in the Oliver Stone movie.

Ugh! The people in the audience cheering when Blitzer asked Ron Paul if the guy should die was absolutely nauseating.

Are there seriously people that believe that crap?!?! Frightening to say the least.

CNN fell into asking too much Perry Romney about halfway in. But that debate MSNBC was 80%+ of pushing Romney vs Perry then they had the audacity to spew out 2 person race nonsense...yea because they made it a two person race

Santorum actually had a more coherent point to make. Probably the only coherent moment he had.

Caught the highlights. It seems with every passing debate that Perry appears more and more unelectable in the general. But he does a better and better job of throwing red meat at the base who is eating it up more than anything Mitt "I work at the International House of Pancakes" Romney is flipping. Romney is their best candidate....but Perry just might pull this off.

As a (somewhat reluctant) Obama supporter, I'd rather Romney win the GOP primary and have a 50% chance of beating Obama in the general than Perry winning and having a 30% chance of beating Obama. As President I think Romney would be tolerable, but Perry scares the hell outta me.

Romney has more than 50% chance of beating Obama...at this point in time.

I'd say it's too early to tell. I honestly don't think Romney would cleanly win over the incumbent advantage right now. In mid-summer 2012 we'll have a better idea of how potent the Obama brand is depending on if we double dipped or not.

I disagree with Ron Paul on the idea of eliminating the minimum wage, that should stay became imagine the decrease in pay would make the middle class poorer. For large corporations I could see increasing the minimum wage substantially.

all of the candidates have their strengths and weaknesses, and none of them are perfect.

but, barring some major upset, I think it's fairly obvious Romney and Perry are the 2 frontrunners.

Bachman may be the dark horse 3rd place.......indeed, I think she drew the most blood from Perry during that whole vaccination argument ( Perry felt the weakest during that exchange, imo ).

I didn't agree with all of the candidates tonight, but for the most, I did agree with what they have to say.

Ron Paul is interesting, cuz he's the kind of guy where you can say: "Yeah....I agree with you up until you start talking about this topic......."

I think that Obama consistently screwing himself over and the bad economy have made him a far too damaged candidate to survive a challenge from Romney. Perry, he can beat, but Romney, no.

Perry is right that it's a Ponzi scheme, doesn't mean that he should say it if he wants to be electable.

Which probably all boils down to...

"You'll take what we give you and like it."

No. Minimum wage hurts the lowest and most vulnerable of workers.

No. Minimum wage hurts the lowest and most vulnerable of workers.

I bet if we took a poll of the "lowest and most vulnerable of workers" most of them would be aghast at the idea of the minimum wage being abolished. Where would the wage control be? There would be rampant exploitation, especially of migrant workers who lack a good grasp of our economy. "No Pablo, one dollar an hour is the going-rate... I promise. Now I want those toilets to sparkle."

Ignorance doesn't change the facts. Government doesn't keep wages high, economics does.

You're right, if there is no minimum wage there'd be more jobs. Sweatshop jobs like China where people work 18 hours a day for a few dollars and will not be able to afford food or shelter for more than a family of two....but aiming for the cheapest jobs and standards of living is the ultimate "free market solution," I suppose.

I was defending his comment about SS because the media are having a field day with it and so are his opponents. Sometimes...the truth hurts and while I don't like Perry...I am surprised by his candidness. It's a bit refreshing.
