I'd be willing to accept Christie's "hard truths" if they were actually, you know, true.
I don't think it's fair to characterize the whole GOP that way, but I think the GOP really needs to take a surgical razor to their fringe.
Santorum is one of the more repellent political figures I can think of. He's right next to Michele Bachmann, for me.
What does everyone think about the criticism that Christie's been getting?
I think that speech could have used way more Romney. I mean, that's the point of the convention, isn't it? To sell the American people on Romney?
I'll say this too, I think Ann Romney continues to be the best voice for the campaign. I thought she gave a great speech. There was a bit of a stretch in trying to connect with working moms, but aside from that...I thought she did as good a job as she could to humanize Romney.

I am on the side Christie's speech sounded like a Christie in 2016 primer. lol
Here's the thing with Chris Christie. He's all about Chris Christie and he's setting himself up for 2016 if Romney doesn't win in November. Hell, he might be setting himself up for 2016 even if Romney does win. And honestly, he hasn't done anything here in NJ to prove that he's ready for anything other than slash budgets and bark loud.
I can see some sense in what both of you are saying, especially upon viewing his speech from last night. I'd be less than happy about that if I was Romney, though.
Here is how the speech sounded to me.
The first 2/3 was all about how great the job he did was. I actually thought it was a great speech if he was campaigning for himself personally.
The last 1/3 sounded like a bunch of balony about how Romney and the Republicans will continue the campaign(ie dealing about "real issues", i assume such as the welfare ads they been promoting that have been proven false, but that doesn't stop the Republicans from saying it) and how they want to work in bi-partisan fashion, with a sprinkle of attack towards unions
Christie's speech was self accolades as well as a slap to the face to wake people up. We don't need anymore politicians that don't do **** or good hope speeches.
That was from 2004...when things were great and everyone had their hands in the trough.

Love Christie or hate him, he's done a lot. I can't blame Christie, he was in an uphill battle from the left and even some of the GOP when he first got elected. Then at the end was his probably forced support of Romney.
Here's a story from last night's GOP convention that Republicans could no doubt live without as they make their pitch to the American public this week. CNN reports:
"Two people were removed from the Republican National Convention Tuesday after they threw nuts at an African-American CNN camera operator and said, 'This is how we feed animals.'
"Multiple witnesses observed the exchange and RNC security and police immediately removed the two people from the Tampa Bay Times Forum."
The cable news network isn't giving the story a lot of play this morning, and only posted an item on it after Talking Points Memo first reported the news last night. Nonetheless, it is probably worth pointing out that the CNN post makes no effort to soften its lede with "allegedly" or anything similar.
The official statements coming from RNC organizers and the CNN brass last night provide only vague details of what happened.
Convention organizers: "Two attendees tonight exhibited deplorable behavior. Their conduct was inexcusable and unacceptable. This kind of behavior will not be tolerated."
And CNN's statement: "CNN can confirm there was an incident directed at an employee inside the Tampa Bay Times Forum earlier this afternoon. CNN worked with convention officials to address this matter and will have no further comment.
The first account of the incident, unsurprisingly, came via Twitter in the form of a tweet from former MSNBC and Current anchor David Shuster: "GOP attendee ejected for throwing nuts at African American CNN camera woman + saying 'This is how we feed animals.'"

Obviously these two morons dont represent all Republicans but this is certainly not the kind of press that the RNC is looking for.
Couple of questions..I live in NJ and I can't see what Christie has acomplished. We're 47th in job creation. The best thing going for us is the Prudential Center in Newark, the two trendy bars across the street from it, and the new Marriott being built behind it. His plans for Atlantic City aren't going anywhere. American Dream, aka the mega mall in the swamp formally called Xanadu, is still an unfinished eye sore on Route 3. Camden is worse than Detroit. Like I said in another post, what has he really done other than bark really loud?
MSNBC cut away and didn't air any of the black or Latino speakers...no joke. And they have the nerve to cry racism every week from old turds like Al Sharpton. And to show a certain bias from journalists covering the RNC, Yahoo news editor David Chalian was fired for making an anti-Romney joke that was caught on an open mic.

Also, House candidate Mia Love of Utah had her Wikipedia page defaced with several racial epithets.
