The 2016-17 College Basketball Thread

I aged about 5 years today. I didn't think UK could beat UF without Fox at the point. The 18-6 deficit that the Cats put themselves in also did nothing to bolster my confidence. I hope there is no letdown over the next two games and we can secure the SEC regular season title and perhaps a 2-seed in the NCAAT.

Congratulations to Kansas for securing their 13th Big 12 Regular Season Title. Bill Self has done an amazing job there.

SEC title #48 is in the books. Here's to hoping SEC Tourney Title #30 is on the way!

GO BIG BLUE!

Regular season champions sounds like the world's biggest participation trophy.

It does sound weird, but it's the real title. The conference tourney titles are nice to have, but gettting a high seed in the NCAAT requires the RS title. If Kansas gets a 1-seed, it certainly won't be for their performance yesterday.

Oregon just lost star forward Chris Boucher to a torn ACL for the season. He reportedly tore it during the first half of the Duck's conference semifinal game last night but was able to finish the game with minimal pain. The tear was found after he woke up this morning with a lot of pain and got an MRI done.

Think this keeps Oregon from potentially getting the #1 seed in the West and likely makes their ceiling a #2 seed, with them possibly dropping to a #3 seed if they lose to Arizona tonight in the conference championship game.

Arizona wins the Pac-12 title but Oregon surprisingly gave them a heckuva game late as they finally overcame the funk caused by losing Boucher today. Think Arizona has an outside shot at a #1 seed but think they'll end up as the #2 seed in the West. Beginning to look like Oregon will get bumped down to a #3 seed in either the West or Midwest regions now that they're shorthanded.

Sheesh, the selection committee always gives UK a road where they match up with rivals, and usually tough ones.

I really, really hate to see a kid get hurt, especially when it robs them of a chance to play in the NCAAT.

My Ducks are now into the Sweet 16. Ugly performance but at this point, it's survive and advace.

Wow crazy Round of 32.

If those close calls for UNC and Kentucky yesterday had gone the other way, this tournament would REALLY have been interesting.

Both Arkansas and Wichita State were better teams that their seeding suggested. My hat is off to both teams for fighting the way that they did. I often feel that the selection committee under-seeds teams as a way of putting early roadblocks in the way of perennial powers like UNC, UK, KU, Duke, UCLA, etc for the sake of ratings.

But you actually think the tournament would be more interesting without YOUR KENTUCKY WILDCATS? Surely you jest.

So far, Kansas, Oregon, and Gonzaga are into the Elite 8.

Xavier upsets Arizona to become the 4th team into the Elite 8.

Lantern, how you feeling bout tonight? I'm hoping Bam keeps it rolling and Fox takes care of the ball. And hopefully Willis stops throwing bricks.

Elite 8 is set after Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida won tonight. The only good game tonight was Florida's dramatic buzzer-beating three in OT to beat Wisconsin.

Gonzaga is the first team into the Final Four after crushing Xavier in the West Regional final.

OREGON IS IN THE FINAL FOUR!!! First time in 78 years.
