"Not as easily" is relative.
Sure, he is not as fragile as Trump, but there have been a lot of interviews etc where he was easily cornered and he didnt manage to get out of that corner.
Walz will have a harder time than Harris, but Vance is his own worst enemy.
It doesnt take much to make Vance stumble.

Yeah, Tim Walz’s greatest asset is his relatability and just being a normal person, and that contrast alone will make JD Vance seem even weirder in comparison when he starts talking about, well, anything, especially when Tim brings up stuff like the couch rumors, the donut shop visit, “childless cat ladies” and his ironic comment about Taylor Swift being an out of touch billionaire that has no influence to show how out of touch with other people and lacking self-awareness JD is. He especially needs to bring up the whole “Haitians eating the pets in Springfield, Ohio“ thing popularized by him leading to Trump bringing it up during the debate which prompted the recent attacks against Haitian migrants. He can really get him on that topic, especially if he brings it up in conjunction with JD brushing off Trump making derogatory comments about his wife and the fact that he has two biracial kids and how hypocritical that makes him look. No doubt the topic of IVF will come up as well.

The only thing I can maybe see Vance trip up Walz on is the whole “stolen valor“ nonsense, but even that I think Tim will be able to brush off. In the same way that Kamala used her experience as a prosecutor to her advantage, Tim Walz needs to play to his strengths and go full teacher mode and treat JD like just another one of his students in his classroom.

JD may be articulate, but Tim has plenty of ammunition to use against him to throw him off his game.

Judging by his tweets in his latest Twitter war, I think it'll be nonsense, evasion, and attacking Walz as stealing valor, tampons in boys restrooms (lie), and letting schools kidnap children to sever their body parts (allowing transyouths a safe space from an abusive home).

I get all that and with such potentially small margins, anything is something. I think the Harris/Trump moved the needle a bit, but I don't see the VP debate doing that......very much....maybe a few folk.
