The 50 best horror novels

I've read 20 of those! I'm gonna scour this list for ideas now. There's a lot of interesting stuff on there I've never heard of.
 
That list feels like something the Guardian would put together by committee. I mean, there's a lot of great horror authors who deserve a mention on that list. Graham Masterton's Manitou - classic? Night Warriors? One of my favourite books of all time.

And Clive Barker gets a passing mention.

I think Mountains of Madness is enormously overrated (good, but not a classic), and World War Z is just really rather rubbish.
 
Hmm, interesting list. Damnation Game is pretty intense so I'm glad that was picked out of his more tame books. I've only read about 7 or 8 on this list.
 
I haven't read that many. Pet Semetary was my first. What do people think of that?
 
Great book.

List seems a tad too contemporary, and the lack of Campbell is absurd, but I haven't kept up with the field as much as I should.
