The 50 Biggest Movies of 2009 (according to timesonline.com, anyway)

But the movies aren't good...And will never measure up to the books!
I think it's the other way around.

The movies are good if you won't measure them up to the books, which the movies usually aren't trying to achieve as their main objective.

Well...Personally...I think the Potter franchise is going down the chute...I've only liked the second and third...!

The whole darker thing without anyone getting killed...Is not working for me!

Aeg!

I read this earlier today...!

Don't know why there's such a big deal over the Potter flicks!

how could you not be aware of such a thing . i'm not into the series but obviously many young adults , children , and wiccans have made these films huge blockbusters.

next years film slate seems really dissapointing compared to 2008

Looking forward to The Birds remake. As much as I like Hitchcock's version, some of the bird fx looked really shoddy.

as much as i loved The Birds.. i think it was great for its time.

today however an audience would see this as a lame "Bats" kinda movie..lol

i hope it'll be good but it could fail in so many ways... even if its 100% faithful

I thought as movies the 3rd Potter movie and up were all much better movies then the first two.

While the first two were more accurate in the little details to the books, they didn't capture the heart of the books that the others do, and their narrative felt unfocused. There really wasn't a theme to them.

Now, I do have many problems with some of the newer movies (mainly GOF) but I always prepare myself for the movies to be much different from the books because I realize that it's lucky if we get a good adaptation, and impossible for a movie to get all our favorite parts of the book onscreen.

Pink Panther 2, Night at the Museum 2, GI Joe? It's obvious a bunch of tweens wrote this ****!

it's hard to predict what's good and what' snot so early on.

What a dumb list.

Watchmen
Terminator Salvation
Star Trek
Up
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
Avatar

These will be the really big releases of 2009, guaranteed.

Dragonball will be bigger than Pink panther 2 at the very leat.

Don't forget Transformers 2.

I doubt it. Pink Panther made alot of money a couple years ago. I seriously think Dragonball will bomb. I hope so too.

Seeing the trailer for PP2, it won't be that good. Hell, I liked the first one.

some pretty interesting movies coming up no doubt......I'm waiting for Inglorious basterds, Angels and demons, Watchmen, Terminator and a few others but there's really nothing here that's gonna make me loose sleep and will hype me as much as QOS and TDK this year :ikyn

I expect to be blown away by some though !:cwink:

Don't worry, you'll catch up on all that sleep when you watch the movie.

I don't. It didn't make all that much, and if DB has a decent trailer, it'll have a decent opening despite some fanboys gripes.

Nah, I just think the GA will be set off by the strangness of it. I really don't think from the footage I have seen will attract anyone except the casual film goer and die hard Dragonball fans. It just doesn't look like a good film. All thanks to Rothman and his crap.

But if they were going to make any of those films make Dragonball Z. Screw the origin.

I remember as a kid I loved that show. It seemed the most cinematic. Even though I grew out of it would be interesting to see how they translate it. Plus, isn't DBZ more well know all around?

Let's just agree to disagree. But know, I'm not saying it will be a hit, a flop, or somewhere in between, I just think it'll make more BO than PP2

How much do you think DB will make? Opening weekend and total gross.

Not sure, just more than Panther 2 :oldrazz:

Creature From The Black Lagoon isnt coming out in 2009...it hasnt even gone into pre-production yet.

Damn, that film is always something I've always wanted to be seen redone. It could be really great if done right.
