The \8/ and the \S/

Well those pictures there are from the cave wall, which we know cover the Legend.
Yeah, the first cap are pics from the cave wall, but the second cap is Lionel's scribbles in his book when he was possessed by Jor-El, hense the Zod reference.

It would be an interesting twist and good continuity to have the Naman/Segeeth legend brought up again, however. :D

I guess you missed my point, but I'm too tired to explain the whole SV-is-its-own-thing concept, yet again. :p

I'm off to bed. Looking forward to tomorrow's ep. Nighters folks! :)

I love that symbol. :D  :p

Besides.. isn't really the symbol for Water? or was it Transference?

spellws_014.jpg

both

water is the element of transference

the \8/ was the air symbol, and I forget what the one was for Earth, it was on the one Lex found in Egypt

Yep, agree with that.

Well they're referencing Warrior Angel and Black Diamond (?) so I think it would be kind of cool for Lionel to explore the legend of Naman.

I'm off to bed.

Hope you have a good night's sleep. Can you fill us in on the whole SV-is-its-own-thing concept in the morning? :cwink:

Thanks.

Whilst I dont think we need to explore Isobel again, it would be interesting to understand why Lana's bloodline was chosen to be a part of the Kryptonian Mythology.

I think when Lana finds out about Clark, that it should be and would make a very interesting subject for her to bring up and explore.

Me too! I'm eagerly anticipating this one, 'cause its about Clark.

Kal is there supposed to be a message in there? I was translating it and it's just letters. The top row QWFY DS THG YTHYKIO that's as far as I got.

Wasnt Warrior Angel's main foe in Stray and Ryan named "Devilicus" and not the "Black Diamond?"

Oh Come on Pat

The Superman emblem is the family crest of the House Of EL , The \8/ symbol is the Mark of Kal-EL's Ancestors and The Kryptonian letter S.

It doesn't taken a genius to figure that out . duh :oldrazz:

Apparently, neither Mark Waid the writer of "Birthright", nor 60 some-odd years of other distinguished comic book writers meet your standards for genius...

For what its worth, "Birthright" is more or less modern canon for the comics.

In "Birthright" Mr. Waid modifies canon and makes the \S/ the symbol of Krypton. Not the House of El family crest.

"That's what I'm getting at. That if the 'S' is just something Jonathan Kent cobbled up out of thin air so he can call his son 'Superman,' not only does it have no resonance, it makes no sense. Why would Clark think he needs something like that on his shirt? He's a humble man. Likewise, if the 'S' is an El family crest, as cool an idea as that was in Superman: The Movie, I will argue until the end of time that Superman's destiny is not to carry on one family's linage near as much as it is to carry on for an entire culture, an entire race. We don't call him the Last Son of the El Family. We call him the Last Son of Krypton."
Mark Waid-Superman Birthright

In the history of Superman, the \S/ always stood for Superman until S:TM came out. In that movie, the writers effectively changed 40 years of canon and made the \S/ the symbol of the House of EL...

Ergo, the one thing we can say is that the \S/ symbol is whatever the writers want it to be whether a stylized 'S', the EL family crest, the Kryptonian symbol for air, or the actual symbol of Krypton.

The one thing to remember is that the Legend of Superman is a living, breathing, enduring, yet ever changing, myth.

And, it doesn't take a genius to figure that out...

That's right. I knew when they were mentioning the villain in Reunion that it was different. I wonder what's up there?

Before SR, I wanted Birthright as the new Superman movie, it'd have been AWESOME! (Not that SR wasn't, I love it)

I think rotten eggs smell awful, and i can't believe Abe Sapien likes them!

I was thinking that was a different villain than the one he was talking about in Ryan. Superheroes usually have many villians. They didn't have to be the same one.

Hell yeah and Tom Welling would have been perfect ofr the movie. Even though Waid has flat out said it wasn't based off of SV and had nothing to do with it I still think it feel in line with the show at that point and time (1-4) and could have worked.

Well that's true. Usually when they talk about Warrior Angel, they're talking about Clark, and Devilicus, who was like a brother to Warrior Angel was Lex.

So I wonder who this new villain, Black Diamond, is supposed to be

I had thought Black Diamond was supposed to be Lionel....I don't know I'll have to watch the episode again.
