Stan's going to win because #resistance.

Thank you for reminding me these two did a godawful music video* together.

*the song is fine, the video's f***ing hideous.

Rooting for her, but lbr, Brady Corbet's winning.
Yeah, this is just the Academy's way of saying "SEE? We nominate women every so often now leave us alone!"

Robert Rodriguez is who you thank for that. 🤣
Why do they look like character models from that terrible Suicide Squad game? :o

I didn't even know that, but it makes total sense, considering I'm pretty sure I described his Star Wars work with those exact same words. :funny:
I think Gaga said they were inspired by Blade Runner for it and so this is probably what his Blade Runner would look like. :o

Until Emilia Perez wins. :o

I was thinking about it and I don't see Emilia Perez pulling a Green Book. That's arguably the most recent undeserving Best Picture winner but I think a lot of that had to do with 2018 being a generally weaker year in the category. I really can't see the Academy going with Emilia Perez over The Brutalist, Anora, Conclave, etc. The fact that it has 13 nominations doesn't scare me either. I looked it up and the most recent film to have a huge amount of noms and go home mostly empty-handed was The Power of the Dog. It was nominated for 12 Oscars and only went home with one (though Best Director isn't too shabby if you're only winning one). I foresee a similar outcome with Emilia Perez. It'll probably win International Feature (though I'm hoping literally anything else in the category wins), Best Original Song (since it's a weak year for the category anyway) and I could also see Zoe Saldana winning Best Supporting Actress, which is the only award I would be okay with Emilia Perez winning since I've always liked Zoe and she's one of the only actual good things about the movie. I can't see it winning anything else.

I also think that the reason why it cleaned up at the Globes is because they're still in damage control mode for the whole lack of diversity and unethical behavior controversy going back a few years. It seemed like a desperate attempt on their part to say "Look, see? We care about diversity!" by

These Oscar reactions to people being nominated are boring.

I want to see the ones who got their whole family/town together and their name wasn’t called like that Spielberg reaction from 1976.

Post that you cowards. Y’all know who you are.

One of the vids that makes me happy every time I think about it.

I just rewatched it last night because I guess I'm a masochist, but I was just desperately trying to see what the voters are seeing in it.

Hoping for an American Hustle-style shutout. I honestly haven't disliked an awards contender to this degree in years, which hurts me to say because I've loved Audiard's previous films so much. NO ONE deserves an Oscar for this movie, Zoe included imo. But then, I've always found her to be a pretty flat performer. Her constant screeching in the Avatar flicks has always driven me nuts. In this one, that flatness just extends beyond acting to singing as well. There's not a second of this movie in which I don't see "Zoe Saldaña ACTING!" A-Year-Ago-Me wouldn't believe Current Me is actually saying this, but Ariana Grande 100% deserves that Oscar over her imo. She became her character full-stop.

Flick you listen to one Ariana album, went to one of her movies and now you’re saying things with your chest!

Ariana should go home with the gold. Zoe has NEVER had it.

As my younger employee who has educated me on all things ~Ariana Lore~ can attest to, my feelings on Ariana overall are...well, she's messy as hell. :funny: But what can I say, I guess

At the end of the day, she's undeniably talented and absolutely earned her flowers here, and I will shout that from the rooftops!

I guess we're in "America Ferrera was really good in Barbie" territory now :o
