I saw the Critic's award show, as a show it was kinda weird all over but understandably so since the show got moved twice because of the fires.
I don't know if this show will move any Academy voters's opinions but it seems like most of the of the acting noms are locked with Zoe Saldana, Kieran Culkin, and Demi Moore. (also Mikey Madison was late to the show for some reason and Chelsea Handler called her out for it). I still think there will be an upset in Best Actor and I don't know if Adrien Brody will get it even after his win tonight.
Best Picture and Best Director seem like a total wildcard at the moment. Jon M Chu isn't even nominated for the Oscars, and seeing Anora win Best Picture and Conclave get Best Ensemble and Adapted Screenplay throws the Brutalist's chances off by a little. The DGA and PGA awards tomorrow will tell more about who's favored.
Surprising to see Coralie Fargeat get best original screenplay, this will be wild to say but there's a version of the Oscars where The Substance cleans up and wins all 5 awards that's it's nominated.
Seeing A Real Pain and Deadpool & Wolverine tie on best comedy is so bizarre.
Great to see Cristin Milioti get her win and her speech was the most fun out of everybody. (also Cristin Milioti & Rachel Brosnahan looked incredible)
To me, Audiard was gonna get the worst awards speech of the night until Camille won for best song and she looked like she was on drugs. There's a shot of Keri Russell in utter shock. lol
Overall, maybe the most disjointed awards show of the season so far.
