Batman Begins The "action" scenes are my biggest complaint about this movie.

Especially after watching TDK, the action in this movie is subpar.

I understand the ultra-zoomed in style for the fight with falcone and scarecrow's thugs, but this movie would have benefitted so much if the prison, fake ra's, and final couple fights were filmed better. It is hard to make out what is going on sometimes, and even though as a viewer I can still understand the events, it doesnt leave the impression/incite the kind of rush in me that I would get if I could actually see what was happening.

Even the chase sequence doesn't give us the sense of speed or thrill. Too many shots of bats inside, and too few extended shots of the tumbler in motion...

the jump in both fight and chase sequence quality from here to TDK is astounding

I think there's been quite a bit of discussion on this topic already and most everyone agreed the fight scenes could have been shot and/or edited better.

Which is why you should be very happy to hear that in TDK, that problem has been remedied!

From an online review:

Action wise, Nolan outdid himself in terms of the scope (the money was onscreen) and execution of his stunt heavy scenarios. In addition, I was content to see one of my main peeves with Batman Begins rectified here: the hand to hand fights. In the first film, they were hard to see - communicated by tightly cut close shots. Here we got more wide and medium shots, edited in a slacker fashion. It was swell to witness Batman do them fancy martial arts move that I’m sure Mr. Bale trained really hard for – Awesome!

I wasn't just happy to hear it, I was happy to see it as well ;)

I think a lot of it had to do with fixing up the rather clunky suit from the first movie, which they actually adequately wrote out in the first act.

watching the behind the scenes on the dvd, where they had wide angle on-set footage of 1) the fight with the ninjas in the Narrows and 2) the fight in the monorail ... I thought it looked great

it wasn't so much the closeness as it was the cutting between shots. it's like a half second was lost between each and it didn't make sense. or they'd cut away to shots of Gotham City.
