Arrow The Amanda Waller/Cynthia Addai Robinson Thread

She's the head of a covert government agency and she's a pragmatist. The Amanda Waller is what she needs to be. We're not supposed to like her. She's a 'necessary evil'.

I'll only get concerned if she starts handing out x's and o's and locks into awkward sexually tense stares with supporting characters.

And she can be all that without seeming a tad crazy, with her only solutions being to bomb everything. Amanda Waller on JLU also did what had to be done. She saw herself as a patriot, and would do what it took to protect her country. Doing all kinds of unethical things like cloning and brain washing. But I had respect for that woman.

There are just no nuances to Arrow's Amanda Waller. She is just miss "In case of emergency, bomb it to hell."

We got zero resolution on that whole SS thing.What happened to Deadshot (and presumably the other members) post the assault on Waller's HQ room?They marched back to their cells upon threat of the bombs on their spines being activated I guess?

It would be great if she becomes a regular for season 3. I mean, she kind of has to be with an ending like that.

Did anyone get annoyed with Amanda & her two gun stare & not fire anything again ? Is that gonna become a running joke ?

I don't think she wanted to kill any viable members of the squad. That and, she came into terms that she was wrong.

It's her go-to solution for everything.

Two robbers caught stealing money? Bomb the bank! She just wants to bomb stuff.

I thought it was funny she accused Lyla of treason that would risk thousands of lives in the middle of planning to level Star City lol.

I dislike this version of Waller because I think Robinson's a bad actress....She's pretty much the only person on this show whose acting I've ever had a problem with, she ruins every scene with her overacting.

Yeah I agree, Pam Grier was a way better Waller, even though Smallville is the weaker show. ..

I would be excited about more Waller next season if Robinson was better. Hopefully she steps it up next season.

I didn't see any overacting. In fact she is quite subdued and calm here, right down to the voice.

The 4 characters I dislike the most on the show so far are Waller, Laurel, Huntress and Count Vertigo. And I don't know if it's just the fault of the writers, who came up with the characterization, or if the actors are just not able to work well with what they've been given.

I think Slade for example, he could have turned out terrible with his motivation, had they cast anyone else instead of Manu Bennett. But Manu took this flimsy ass reasoning for revenge, and still gave us one of the best villains on TV.

Robinson is knocking it out of the park as this pent up ultra-pragmatic ultra-powerful control freak. I think some people might be looking for a badass and think that getting a hardnose instead is a failure to act like a badass. No, Waller is really just like that. Robinson is doing a great job playing a foil.

I don't see how Laurel and Roy get a free pass. Have you ever laughed at how badly Robinson portrayed an emotion? Have you ever looked at her and said 'that's not how real people sound?' Yeah...

Frankly I agree.We really haven't gotten to see Robinson long term,though.I'm willing to see how she may improve this season.

Amanda Waller is probably the most like her character in the comics. Don't really care about her weight either, not a very important part of her character despite what some comic fans say. As for acting ability...you have to be kidding me. Robinson is probably the best actress to appear on the show after Susanna Thompson.

I cringe during every Waller scene. I keep waiting for her to surprise me... but no...

IMO she's easily the weakest link on the show. This is especially obvious when she shares the screen with Diggle (one of the best actors on the show IMO).

They should've just gotten CCH Pounder or Pam Grier. it seems to me like they cared more about getting a pretty face than getting a good actress.

I prefer the acting of literally every other actress that has played the role. Bassett, Pounder, Grier, even the YJ version>Robinson

From what I've seen of Robinson on Spartacus, she is a lot better there. She isn't a terrible actress on there at all.. I dunno what the deal is with her portrayal on Arrow. It's a significant step down in quality. I don't have a bias against her or the character, I wanted to like Robinson's portrayal, but she was terribly miscast imo.
