The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Amazing Spider-Man 2 General Discussion - - - - - - Part 15

This is the first time I've been negative other than wanting a super model for MJ (but come on lol, practically every guy on here wanted a girl to salivate over haha). Just with the problem with ASM 1 being over-stuffed and indicators that are pointing to ASM 2 being over-stuffed has got me worried (especially when I had hoped ASM 1 didn't work out that well because it was just Webb's first time out of the gate really and that meant ASM2 would fix that).

I love the costume! Everything else I am not sold on until I see the only thing that really can sell it to anyone (the actual movie). Again, Webb's job is to prove himself. If ASM was an amazing movie then I would be less concerned as Webb would have proven himself. Webb hasn't proven himself yet to me so there is no reason to jump off the church for Damian yet. I will gladly watch and jeer as others plummet though.

Why are you wasting your life reading and replying to my posts? I personally think anyone that loves everything no matter what is a bit sadder because they can't think for themselves but that is neither here nor there because your comment wasn't a personal attack either right?

I agree with you on those who "love everything" but i feel the same way about people who hate everything and look for more reasons to hate thing....people who are one sided on eitherside are blind morons anyway.

Its ok to love and hate things... But to be so one sided isn't very level headed

This thread is headache inducing, lol. See you in a few weeks (comic-con)- when we actually get some idea of how the film is coming along.

But I don't come on here and badger people who love everything (that don't post complete absurd falsehoods). If you respond to one of my posts, of course I am going to reply. That's the difference between a troll and someone who has an opinion...whether that be negative or positive.

whos saying the second film wont do it justice just because tasm 2 cuts out a scene the movie is in ruins its F'IN ridiculous how so many people jump to so many conclusions @ Ultimatehero

Because it points to too much being there so they can't focus on what is important. We already knew this film had so much more than ASM 1. But, this points to there being too much.

but I wouldn't class a few scenes with MJ as being the same

Not in the same league as the giant miscalculation in the first film, but it does point to having too much there. To me, the first film didn't really seem stream-lined. They had all of these subplots and they had to delete critical parts from each. The additional scenes about Peter's parents made it seem more focused and more emotional. And the dinner scene with Captain Stacy had us actually get to know and feel sympathetic for the guy before they so readily killed him off, in the script we got to know him before he died - here they deleted that so we hardly got to know him. So, with too much being there to the point that they had to delete important scenes in ASM 1 -- it doesn't give me much confidence when I hear they need to delete a character in order to stream-line it more. Because the script should have already been stream-lined. That was the problem with the first, lack of focus, and that seems to be the problem again. So, I have reason to fear the past repeating itself.

lets just bring this topic up at a later time and talk about what we expect from tasm 2 at comic con because we arnt even discussing. this thread has turned to pure hate today and thats not good.

I think you should badger people who love everything... Maybe not badger but question why they do or call them out on it.

The only reason Im even responding to you is because its clearly annoying many people. Don't suck the fun out of the room. Speak your peace and move on. Not pop in every other page basically saying "BURN IT TO THE GROUND" . you've made your point... Which is fine. Move on from there unless you actually have some creative input rather than short repetitive opinions.

we all know they deleted mj scenes because they wanted to save it for future films not because the film was over crowded that seems to be the main problem with these discussions people think that the movie will be crowded which it wont

ALL we know is that they deleted it so they could stream-line Gwen and Peter as to that's all that they said. Stream-line Gwen and Peter. They never said "we're doing this so we can use and focus more on MJ in the sequel." They never said that -- Webb said:

“I made a creative decision to streamline the story and focus on Peter and Gwen and their relationship.”

Streamline - bring more focus to. Thus, what I said -- focus should have already been there from the start. The above quote says absolutely nothing about how MJ will be portrayed in later films.

Overcrowding - it's more crowded than the first. The first was so crowded they had to delete INTEGRAL scenes that not only gave Peter's search for his parents more of an emotional weight but Captain Stacy as well. We hardly got to know the man before he died in the theatrical, it felt cheap. It felt cheap because they had to delete his main and key scene in the film where we truly got to know him as a character. Where he became Captain George Stacy and not just "Gwen's dad."

As to FN -- as said focus should have already been there. And if it wasn't focused, then why the hell not? Also and especially since that was my main complaint with ASM 1. If it's one thing they should have focused on more it was to focus the film and story they were telling.

so whats with people thinking its for overcrowding purposes

Because for some reason people think whenever a character from the comics is introduced they suddenly think their entire comic history immediately has to be told in the film and that if they be hero or villain they just couldn't possibly only be shown as civilians and not their alter egos.... Adrian Tcomes just can't be a head of ravencroft, Felicia hardy just can't be Felicia hardy... And surely Mary Jane and harry have to have major screen time and plot points and so much development. All in one film.. *eye roll* people need to view a film franchise like this as a book... And each film a new chapter. Look at the grand story of it all... Not the individual sections.

IMO the first film was not over crowded in any way niether will the second and maybe mj got deleted to pave the way for longer action scenes and sequences which was lacked in tasm

^ The first film wasn't crowded at all; we don't know why the stuff that was cut or reworked/reshot was removed, and it's silly to make assumptions in that regard.

Look at the grand story of it all... Not the individual sections.

All superhero movies except for ASM 1 both felt like their own individual story perfectly well crafted AND a part of a greater whole. You can do both.

To you it wasn't overcrowded, to me it wasn't focused which is largely and probably due to deleting integral moments (it worked LEAGUES better on page than what it turned out to be on screen).

On page, I mourned for Captain Stacy's death, on screen it felt like a foot note. Seriously, it may just be minutes - but those scenes just overall made it work a lot better.

Actually it's more because ASM had so many scenes and not enough focus or stream-lined so that some of the truly important scenes could fit in there. These being about Peter's parents, set up as the character's key struggle in the beginning then largely ignored after that. And not develop Captain George Stacy to the point in which he was a character and not just "Gwen's dad," so we could actually feel his death. And yes, even though the dinner scene was just one scene, we at least got a sense that we knew him. We got a chance to see how he thought and who he was rather than just being there for the plot points.

All I can say is i'm sure they learned their lesson from the last time

And all I can say is hopefully. Just the needing to delete to bring more focus in doesn't inspire with a lot of faith because the focus should have already been there.

exactly im sure they have learned there lesson which wasnt a major 1 because IMO tasm was a good movie

To you, not major. To those who were completely or those who were at least a little let down by ASM, that was the major reason why.

Thats fine to but as of right now its nothing that im goin to sit and worry about considering that I have no idea whats what until I get a teaser and even then I wont worry but I look forward to what will happen at comic con to get a bigger picture
