You know things are slow-going when there's an in depth discussion about the validity of the final swing in a Spidey movie.

I mean.....we're trying to say sane. That's all that's going on here hahaha

It gets really annoying when certain members show up here and there just to post a bunch of negative comments about TASM or TASM2. I know, I know... people are allowed to share their thoughts and opinions freely, and this is a message board after all.

But it feels like an atheist is walking into a Church and trashing the religion.

I can't say I find that comforting. I know some people can be a jerk about it, but it's still a forum and not a dedicated fan club.

Its a forum where people gather to talk about Spider-Man... so chances are 90% of people here ARE dedicated fans.

I feel you Picard. I have coworkers who bash on TASM every now and then. Pretty badly too haha. You just ignore em. It's all opinion at the end of the day.

Agreed.

I have fellow students who bash the film, and others who praise it. So you're right, everyone has their own opinion, and honestly, only yours matters most at the end of the day. Its not politics, or a life or death situation. Its entertainment.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I think all that matters whether it be a comic or a movie, or a TV show, is if you enjoyed the story being told. A lot can go into it. People can complain about artwork in a comic, cinematography in a film, bad directing, etc., but I think the question will still stand on whether you enjoyed the story or not.

You can find flaws to complain about with every film, its just a matter of whether or not those flaws get in the way of your enjoyment of it.

^ True... And Man of Steel (or should I say Zack Snyder) truly ****ed up the experience!

I was really hoping to get a new director for MOS2. :(

Yup. And it ain't gonna happen. Let me get something out there right now. Cause people are truly bashing poor Affleck for now playing batman. Well I say, Affleck ain't the problem. Zack Snyder is the ****ing problem!:csad: He's the worst storyteller! I still dig MOS. But the movie was a god damn mess! All the elements were there. The actors were there and given it their all. But the movie was a mess. MOS2 most likely won't be any different.

I thank God that Webb and the entire team is back for ASM2! It's very comforting. Can't say the same about Zack Snyder in the directors chair for MOS2. So once again. Affleck isn't the problem. Snyder is.

Yes, but the don't have to be and they don't have to love TASM either.

Though I thought it had flaws too I'm largely on board with Snyder being back. Though if anything maybe Affleck can give him some advice.

No, but if you are posting in a thread/forum made just for the new Spider-Man films (over a year after the first film's release), most of the people here are going to be fans of it.

That's an explanation of what the majority of posters here likely are. That's not a reason for why people shouldn't post here if they don't automatically think TASM is amazing.

No, I thought that MOS was fantastic and think that most of the so-called flaws people point to can be easily refuted. However, that's just my opinion and I acknowledge that it's not a film for everyone. Besides, Snyder didn't write the script so blaming him for possible story issues makes little sense.

You're missing my point though. I'm only referring to certain members who pop up here and there just to say something extremely negative, disappear, and do the same thing over and over again. They have the right to do so, but I'm just saying that it gets a little aggravating, that's all.

But Snyder is the director, and he has a heavy influence over the script. Notice all of his movies have a lot in common... heavy action, flawed story script.

My bad. I was probably just reading too much into the 'atheist in a church' bit.

Its cool. I was just using that as a metaphor to explain how it feels when one of those members pops up to trash something you love, and do it repeatedly.

While I did really enjoy myself with MoS and don't believe Snyder deserves quite the bashing he gets I'm not entirely sure that all the flaws in the film can be refuted. I agree with people when they say that the tenticle machine/monster wasn't needed. Though conversely I've hated many people's suggestions on how that scene could be 'fixed'. I do think MoS was a bit overloaded with action. It was a lot of fun, but I think some of it could have easily been replaced with more character moments for Superman.

However saying that I think MoS did a lot of new and interesting takes on the Superman mythology which I'd like to see played out in the sequel.

Start up now than, buddy. Cause you'll never finish.
A bunch of people feels that Dark Knight Rises had big problems. When compared to MOS though, Nolans concluding chapter to his dark knight trilogy WAS a masterpiece. Some claim that MOS is a masterpiece (and be_lieve me I wanted it to be!). But it is so far away from being a masterpiece, that it's absolutely ludicrous to even hear just one calling it that.

MOS was a damn mess. The biggest mess I ever liked. But I was sorely disappointed in its entire execution. Snyder had the visual stuff down. It was so incredible! But my God is he a poor storyteller. The movie would have been so much stronger if Ben Affleck had agreed to direct it when Nolan approached him.

BUT, at least I have great faith in Marc Webb's directing skills for ASM2. It's gonna be good.
