Glad I'm not the only one who is very confused over the idea of someone believing it'd be just as fine if any other villain replaces Green Goblin with Gwen Stacy's death.

you must hate the raimi spiderman film then, because they.... changed gwen for mary jane... NOOOOOOO THE HORRORRRRRRRRRRR

That's a huge difference than having Gwen Stacy and building up an arc for Norman Osborn and not having these two meet in such an iconic fashion that's from the comics.

I'm hoping for Kangaroo, or maybe Big Wheel.

Only the Funny Bunny is sinister enough to replace the great Green Goblin

They could even do the genetic cross-species mutation thing to create the Funny Bunny. It would be very contemporary and grounded.

Imagine that **** in 3D man...
Instant blockbuster, munnies in Marvel and Sony's pocket.

Is Emma Stone signed on for TASM3, if not, she should be?

It's best that they change any plans for her dying in the sequel to avoid a massive backlash--if Green Goblin isn't the one throwing her to her death. Do it while it's early in the production and changes can be made.

There shouldn't even be talk of her dying in the sequel without Green Goblin showing up. Why not have a great build up to the last film of the trilogy, with the most popular Spider-Man arc of all-times. The Death Of Gwen Stacy with Green Goblin!

I'm still hoping it won't just be a "trilogy" but will continue further than that... Gwen's death in TASM 3 would be a great lead in to a fourth film.

I really think the way they will play it is that Peter's anger over Gwen's death leads to him bonding with the symbiote, and it is Mary Jane who "redeems" him and helps him break free.

It doesn't need to be a trilogy, but they first have to get the death of Gwen Stacy with the Green Goblin in the third film. Then the trilogy can go beyond just three films, and we won't have to label it a trilogy. But if they screw up saving Gwen for the third film, to be killed by the Green Goblin, it's over for the third movie before it even starts.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I'm sure if this is what Webb has in mind, things will be perfectly set up in TASM 5 for THIS:

Forget about Venom for now, focus...

Focus on them not screwing up the death of Gwen Stacy first. Why isn't Emma Stone apart of the third film, if that's where Green Goblin will first appear?

Venom will not be in this series. I don't even wanna see him. Way more villains to explore.

I wouldn't say that. I agree I don't care that much about seeing him either, but he's very popular.

Yeah, I know. But I saying, everything Symbiote related should be focused beyond the thrid film where Goblin would be. We could see the Symbiote in the 4th movie, then at the very end meet Venom to save him for the 5th one and the 5th one is all Spidey vs Venom, done RIGHT this time.

They should just have GG kill Gwen in movie 2,then in movie 3 you find out that Norman already died from his disease and Harry is the Goblin who killed Gwen because she dumped him for Peter.

And Norman is Chameleon.

Could work but looking at the way things are going, I doubt it.It would be a very good twist in the story but right now it's a reach.
