Highly doubt the rumor is true. Marc Webb doesn't seem like the type of guy who would kill Gwen in the first act of the movie and by someone other than Norman. Just doesn't sound like something Webb would do. That would have less of an impact on the audience than Rachel's death in The Dark Knight did.

And given that Webb managed to keep it a complete secret that B.J. Novak was a member of the cast until today, I find it hard to believe he's running such a loose ship that such major info would be spilled.

But then again, if The Dark Knight Rises has taught me anything, it is that nothing is impossible regardless of how small the chance may be. I refused to believe prior to the movie coming out that Nolan would make Bruce fake his death to go party with a hot chick in Europe and leave Gotham in the hands of a rookie cop that doesn't even have 1/10 of the skills required to be Batman, giving him no training or help whatsoever. That is a topic for a different thread though.

My overall point - it is most likely false but the chance of it being false is not 0%.

Still think Gwen is dying in the 3rd act of this film, or her death will lead into the 3rd act.

And I also believe they'll develop Norman for most of the film and then Gobby will show up in the 3rd act to commit the deed.

that's what i'm hoping for.

i could see norman growing desperate for the cure over the course of the film

TDKR's ending was left to be interpreted by the viewer....lol.

To think he's gonna be Batman without deciding to train isn't a very well rounded interpretation if you ask me, haha. But, I guess you could always view Robin to dress up as Batman without any training, die that first night, and Bruce comes back

i have my doubts, electro is still the main villian, and wouldnt end on a great note to have her die then sad cliffhanger ending, no final swing or anything.

also if its true rhino is in this then thats 2 villians already

Let me start my own rumor then. Reports say that Uncle Ben will be resurrecting as Venom. That's right. The symbiote attaches to his body and he comes back to haunt Peter for letting the burglar get away.

Please believe it until a Sony executive says its not real.

I think three films is a decent number of films to tell the Goblin story.

something to keep in mind with the gwen rumour is the foreshadowing in tasm1. note that i have said foreshadowing and not easter eggs.

it was foreshadowing when peter threw gwen out of the window

it was foreshadowing when the kid was about to fall and peter caught him

(it was also and easter egg [and coupled with the above probably amounts to foreshadowing] when peter's spider sense goes off in the final swing with the bridge in the background)

so, it seems reasonable to conclude that gwen will die via being thrown off a bridge. to die in an explosion or a fire or a gas leak or a lightning bolt through the chest is at odds with tasm1.

therefore, it appears more likely that they will emulate the comic book moment more or less in full by having green goblin do it, than have electro or anyone else as the culprit. to have the scene play out faithfully, except it is electro substituting for green goblin, is something really stupid and insulting to fans.

if the aforementioned tasm1 scenes were not in the movie and not mentioned by marc himself as being foreshadowing a certain someone's fate, then i could see electro or someone else killing gwen. but to use the bridge. to use the fall. to use the web line catch. it is too similar to the comics to allow for anyone but green goblin.

Wasn't the bridge one of the easter eggs in TASM?Also,Webb posted a tweet of the bridge a while back when the movie started shooting but since then haven't seen them film there.If the rumors are true they will film at the bridge sometime between now and future.This will deinately be news if it happens and if they don't it's definately BS.

Another thing is there wasn't any bridge in the TASM2 model shown a few days ago.This makes me think that the rumor isn't true.Although read earlier pargaph.

Marc Webb confirmed that there was some foreshadowing of Gwen's fate... in the commentary, he mentions it when Peter throws her out the window, and when his spider sense goes off after we see the bridge.

the parents subplot also needs to be concluded.

If webb throws to much into this film i will have my doubts we will get a 4th as it feels like alot thrown in to one film.

I remember when the rumors of Sandman being Uncle Ben's killer started circling, people were saying...I call BS!...Raimi would never do that!...how'd that work out in the end?

But we also had set photos of Sandman killing him to prove that...

these are some BS rumors someone posted online. We had a TON of those for TASM1 that weren't true. Kind of reminds me of Aunt Carnage (though that rumor was really way out there).

First up, Electro (Jamie Foxx). We're told he will not be wearing anything close to his classic green and yellow outfit, and to "think Ultimate version". Again, not really unexpected. The character's civilian alter ego Max Dillon will be an Oscorp employee - oh, and that pic Webb tweeted with the morgue number? Nothing at all to do with Venom (no Eddie Brock appearance either) it's actually where Dillon is taken after his "accident". We're told there will be no Green Goblin in this movie but LOTS of teasers and foreshadowing for the next movie - apparently Norman Osborn (Chris Cooper) hasn't been cured yet and is still dying. Now for the big spoiler: Just as most of us suspected, Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) will indeed check out in this film, but perhaps more surprising is that it's been hinted - note we don't know this for certain - that this won't even happen at the end, and Stone's role may not be very large at all. Like I said, that's speculation based on how the info was put across, but I personally wouldn't be surprised in Gwen buys it around the beginning of the third act, giving Spidey a reason to go off the deep end and seek revenge.
