This thread has been made in response to the news that a third theatrical trailer for TASM2 is imminent. All posts within are to be spoiler-free in relation to said trailer and any future footage released via clips.

The regular discussion thread remains unchanged. This is simply a safe haven for those who want to discuss TASM2 that have decided to avoid the third trailer.

I actually believe it will land next week. I am yet to know of a trailer that has come out more than a week or so after classification, and we know that it was classified on the 7th of feb via bbfc.

Regardless of when it lands, this thread's purpose remains, and I am more than happy for it to become spoiler-free in relation to news articles that are inevitable the weeks before and after premieres.

I think you are kind of overreacting and not seeing the big picture here, RB. t:

The amount of footage that exists with The Amazing Spider-Man 2 right now isn't bigger than what we have for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Remember: the Enemies Unite sizzle reel isn't actually a theatrical trailer like the first one or the other two that Cap already has. We have so far an US and an International trailer, the Super Bowl ads and the leaked footage from San Diego's Comic Con. The Enemies Unite sizzle reel is basically a mash up from everything we have seen from the other trailers.

Neither the Sizzle Reel or the Super Bowl ads AREN'T been shown in movie theaters, while movie theaters have so far are ONE The Amazing Spider-Man 2 trailer and TWO Captain America: The Winter Soldier trailers. We don't have a countdown and there seems that Sony isn't actually hyping as much the release of this new trailer like they did with the other TASM2 marketing they did in the past, so I'm willing to bet that the 2nd theatrical trailer will use mostly stuff already shown in the Sizzle Reel and the Super Bowl ads which weren't present in the first trailer, while some flashy new scenes to keep the online crowd happy.

Sony needs a second 2:20 trailer for the movie theaters, and I'm actually pretty stoked to see it, since I don't believe there will be nothing 'excessively' revealing on this one.

your post misses the point of this thread.

this thread's purpose remains. it isn't an indictment on sony marketing. it is literally just a spoiler-free discussion thread come the next trailer and beyond. the thread title is just a bit of fun and a play on a cut line from tasm1.

and we have much more footage for tasm2 than cap, not that cap is even relevant...

fact is, we have seen all the footage released so far. it's not relevant that it hasn't been shown to the general public. we have seen it, and some of us don't want to see more.

and don't give me a spiel about the upcoming trailer being primarily old footage. what if it isn't? that's the whole point of avoiding it. if we take your word for it, and watch the trailer, then we risk seeing new stuff that we feel is superfluous at this point.

anyway, this is becoming too meta. this thread is for spoiler-free discussion, not discussion of the thread itself. no one is forcing you to post here; the official discussion thread remains unchanged.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you angry, neither I was defending Sony's marketing strategy for TASM2. I saw this "A third trailer? That seems a bit excessive" and thought you were thinking we would be getting a third trailer which would be spoilerific and said my take on it.

And you're correct, I've missed the big picture, I didn't realize that was a spoiler free thread. I'm glad that the thread title was changed though, since I didn't realize until now that's a spoiler-free thread.

I'm more than happy for this to simply be a spoiler-free zone in general. Like, if there's a big leak via an article between now and release, it should not be discussed here.

Yep, I think best not to post any new spoilers from yesterday onwards. Just easier that way if we have a blanket rule.

I learned quite a bit from the sizzle reel that I did not know before hand, I think I've seen enough of the movie at this point. I want there to be as many surprises as possible come May, when I am actually sitting in the theatre. For that same reason I have yet to watch the new Cap trailer also.

The new trailer has nothing new to offer, guys. No need to be alarmed. It shows the same stuff, only in some small cases it's from a slightly different angle. But there is absolutely nothing new to the trailer. No new footage and no new dialog what so ever. To speak the truth, I think this "new" trailer wasn't needed at all.

I still think we're gonna see yet another trailer with some new stuff in mid-march.
