I had desperately hoped a while back that Norman would actually suit up as the Goblin and take down the Parkers' plane.

Jeez, that actually would have been freakin' cool.

This movie should have just focused on Norman and Harry. No question.

Of course I'm not being rude - I had the impression we were on good terms? And I'm not trying to bash your opinion.

I was trying to say that it's sad to hear you so dissapointed. I'd be ****ing destroyed if I came out feeling the same way, as you, about this movie.

Oh I know you weren't, we're good, I just didn't want my post coming off as snarky.:cwink:

Thanks for sharing. Sounds like a terrible situation to be in. Hopefully you'll enjoy the next Spider-man series to come along. Whenever that will be.

No problem, I don't mind discussing things, as long as it can be civil and such.:yay: I'm glad you enjoy them, I wish I did too.:csad: Personally, I just want this to go to Marvel, like...I feel like Spidey would be in such great hands at Marvel and away from Arad/Sony.

I feel like maybe Norman was a Goblin in the past?

IMO that would be poor, as there is zero mention of Norman's past, outside of him being afflicted with the Osborn curse at Harry's age, IIRC.

What I absolutely hated was how much Norman was squandered. Cooper could've been amazing in the role and his small cameo really was. But it should've been so much more.

Also Electro's motive was silly but Foxx nailed it and the use of Electro in terms of action sequences was great.

I dunno, the whole movie just felt like more setup. Problem is, TASM felt like setup. When are we gonna get the payoff?

^^ I feel like Webb listens to the criticisms. I loved this film, but I feel as if the next will be better.

I feel like at least by TASM3 since this was originally conceived as a trilogy... otherwise perhaps the S6 movie? Seems like that is what all of this is building up to.

Norman Osborn really was a useless character in these two films. Just goes back to the whole setting up things in the first film that don't pay off in the second. They've done it again in film two setting things up for film three. I really wish studios would just focus on the bloody film at hand instead of thinking about 2-3 films down the line. I frankly blame Batman Begins for this trend.

Looks like we are in the same boat Spider-Fan. Agree on DeHaan being strong, but I just couldn't take some of the dialogue he was given. I also found his character to lose a lot of steam after the Spidey meeting.

Also agree on the relationship basically rebooting and taking on the Peter/MJ flavor.

I agree, but I do think even when Dehaan had bad dialogue, he somehow made it work. Wasn't the case for Foxx as Dillon. He just sucked start to finish. I thought the first sequence with Giamatti wasn't horrible and I was thinking to myself "yeah it is bad, but not epic bad" and THEN came the Rhino suit sequence...oh boy, THAT was awful.

The S6 movie is such a terrible idea. I get that Sony wants an Avengers of their own, but this isn't how they ought to go about it.

On a side note, I am sick of waiting. At some point, these movies have to deliver. Frankly, I am facetious of Webb's promise that this was planned as a trilogy. So many plot points of TASM went unaddressed, were swept aside, etc.

Ugh, the Rhino stuff was so effin bad.

Hmm, I actually think the Sinister Six movie is a cool idea, but it's VERY risky.

That I agree with. I'm a little sick of waiting and want some resolutions NOW. If we had to wait 6 months between films then maybe that would be different... but ANOTHER 2 years for TASM3 is what kills me.

And it was the last scene of the movie! You should never, ever, ever let the audience leave after a bad scene! That hurts more than having some bad scenes in the beginning or middle. You can't win anyone back at the end!

I really don't look forward to TASM3. Sinister Six or not, Webb is not the man to deliver on this series. Not saying he has no talent, but blockbusters are not his bag. That much is clear.

I think Webb's just not experienced enough to undertake such a huge franchise. One fun dramedy, 500 Days of Summer, and he's allowed to direct one of the most iconic superhero franchises ever? Okay.

I couldn't help but see Max Dillon's character as some sort of weird cross between Jim Carrey's Edward Nygma and Richard Pryor's Gus Gorman for some strange reason. The apartment scene took me out of the movie. This dude is gonna be menacing Electro? Really?

In 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 He went from loving his hero Spidey to hating his guts and wanting to murder him. I don't care what his reasons were, they were weak as hell. Don't get me started on the other buffoon Rhino.

What makes the rhino scene THAT bad?

Where to begin? The CGI was bad. Little kid version of Tienanmen Square was worse. The fact that Giamatti was so hammy that he out cheesed the little kid version of Tienanmen Square is what really does it for me though.

soooo.........I didn't care much for the 1st film.........

from the sounds of it, it looks like I'd care even less for TASM 2??

Well I think that we just needed some more screen time for Max Dillon. There was that scene where suddenly he comes out and imagines himself attacking his boss, Smythe, which shows some instability.

3/10

Based on the fact that I did not enjoy the first movie, I lowered my expectations yet still tried to judge this film on its own merit. Even so, I have to classify this effort as an absolute film travesty. It is all kinds of awful.

I seriously am searching for something to like and I do absolutely love the character. Spidey looks great and I really do like the cast. It's too bad they gave them such a dumb story and such a bad script to shoot. There are so many things wrong with this effort that it’s tough to sum up my utter contempt for what I saw unfold on screen.

What struck me about an hour and a half in to the run time was the fact that nothing major was happening yet they managed to develop NOT one single character. Everything feels shallow and most nothing connects. They book end the film with cheesy Rhino moments that really deserve all the “Batman & Robin” comparisons that I’ve read. (Spider-Man messing around in the opening truck chase should have gotten dozens of people killed for no reason) Seeing New Yorkers standing behind instant barricades watching gun battles and explosions happening less than 100 yards away as if it was some sort of Spider-Man sports contest actually made me cringe. That happens three times during the film. Electro was ridiculous and again, the parallels to the worst films the genre has ever produced are real and tangible. Harry Osborn is yet another wasted and unbelievable cheesy character.

I do award a few salvation points for actually giving Aunt May a few scenes to shine (unlike the first film.) The action is completely forgettable except for the final Goblin showdown. That was well done (more salvation points). The slo-mo vibe is terrible and the soundtrack severely detracts from everything. The dialogue is as bad as it gets as is EVERYONE’S motivation.

Overall, I’m a Marvel fan that is actually offended by how bad this turned out. :cmad:

This effort is so bad that it really does hurt. I gave it a fair chance and it feels like someone punched me in the groin. Seriously, this movie is a blow below the belt to true fans.

:down

Giamatti's performance is the only thing I can agree with, although for me it wasn't that bad.

If Webb listened to criticisms then TASM2 should have been an improvement no matter what. Yet, it feels like it doesn't know what movie it wants to be.

I hated hated hated the Electro stuff, but everything else was great. I only half assed watched the first film (we rented it and I was loosely paying attention), so I didn't go into this one with much to go on. But I really enjoyed Peter, Gwen, Aunt May, Harry, and the parent's back story.

7.5/10

When he said "I'm Rhino!!!" I cringed. I was embarrassed to be in the cinema during that part. I know I say Crane Dad in TASM I found totally stupid, but that looks like amazing writing compared to the Rhino/Electro material.

wow i didn´t think it would get this bad, wonder what´s sony´s next move?
