The Amazing Spider-Man 2 The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Video Game Thread - Part 3

Did you guys see Seven's video? It showed a bit of gameplay at the beginning.

Shows Spidey on a getaway car and he crawls on the side of it, and it looks like the trailer graphics and the guy playing it is using an Xbox 360 controller.

There was also a health bar for Spider-man and a bar that would indicate when the car would get away.

Nice find! Thank u! Hopefully the ps4 and 1 version is like the clip.

I noticed on the health bar there's a GREEN bar under a grey bar! The grey bar is probably health. So I wonder what the green bar is? Web fluid? Spider Sense meter???

I like the look so far judging from that one

Still need to see Daytime. I hope that they made the car chases different. It got boring blinding the car and then watching the game automatically make a web net over and over. Why not use different sized cars and have different endings instead of ONE sequence for the entire game?

I also hope that we can build a web net manually in this game and that web dome is back but I doubt it.

I have to agree with you on that one they give it more of a variation it was cool at first and then got boring, I hope they have a day and night cycle and weather changes I would really love that

in the trailer they showed it raining and lightning I hope that its just for a custscene but in game

How can u tell without more to go on? But it does look more improved but I gotta see the whole thing first.

What worries me is: I had the impression that that white bar up on the screen (Distance until escape) kept decreasing even though Spidey was standing on the car. So, it's like a time limit for solving crimes I'm assuming?

That little bit of gameplay actually gave me a little hope...mostly because it reminded me, as First Avenger said, an HD Spider-Man 2.

Huh, gameplay looks pretty good, I gotta say.

Hopefully it'll be our HD Spider-Man 2.

Am I the only one who finds the villains lacking in these TASM games?

Spider-Man 2 had:
Doc Ock
Rhino
Shocker
Black Cat
Mysterio

Spider-Man 3 had:
Venom
Sandman
Goblin
Kingpin
Morbius
Lizard
Scorpion
Shriek
Kraven

TASM had:
Black Cat
Rhino
Lizard
Robots

TASM2 will have:
Electro
Goblin
Rhino
Kingpin
Kraven

It just seems that TASM lacked foes. TASM2 seems to lack too since most of there foes will be in the film.

Yes, I feel that we are in for a good surprise when it comes to this game. Nobody is saying this will be better than the Arkham games, but I feel that Beenox still have some cards under their sleeve. If this is as good as PS2's SM2, I'll be a happy camper.

You've said youself, TASM2 is getting the same number of villains that PS2's Spider-Man 2 got. Besides, it's not about quantity, it's about quality. Give me PS2's SM2 villains over sucky SM3 game any day of the week.

If you want to see another example of quality over quantity, look any further than the Arkham games. SNES Adventures of Batman and Robin is still my favorite Batman game ever, and that had more villains than the Arkham ones, the difference is that with time, it's harder to make justice to all these villains in just one game. From all things that you could nitpick, I don't think "lack of villains" is a valid criticism when it comes to the TASM2 game.

I think its more about the story than the villians for me. The stories in Beenox's game have been pretty lackluster.

Where did he get that footage from (@SevenWebHeads)?

//EDIT: Nevermind, he got it from some report about Quebec employers (Beenox interviewed and Dee Brown and his "chocolate factory" etc) I think. It's the only footage of the game in there (you get to see a bit more of the city -> someone working on the model etc.).

I liked how you can jump around the car and not just hop onto the bonnet. I am a bit bummed by the healthbar, I like my experience clean with as little HUD as possible (I always turned off the phone in TASM1 because you could literally see mission markers miles away with the lightbeams they had). I'll not judge though and see how it turns out with a more complex HUD. The grey bar looks to be experience, I doubt that they changed their mind and added webfluid running out etc because it would literally leave you lost in the city until you return to your apartment or find webfluid on rooftops (which, to be absolutely honest, would be a horrible mechanic... totally "unrealistic"). They weren't really a fan of the webfluid idea because it'd add a handicap and could potentially destroy the fun when you chase down some flying robot or car and suddenly no webfluid.

I am fine with the escape meter at the top. Every open-world Spidey game that had you stop cars had an internal timer for when you took too long to reach/disable the car. They could've done it maybe a bit better by not showing us some timer but instead have the mission fail with an actual gameplay event, like in TASM1, when the car leaves the island.

Well, yeah. I guess it makes sense if the car is trying to leave the island or if it gets further and further away from spidey. I hope it's like Spider-Man 2 though.

I actually agree with Levitikuz. Spidey video games should have a lot of villains. And real effort should be put into making them worthwhile. I want to fight Mysterio, Venom, and Green Goblin in the same game. And I want them to all be well developed. No reason it can't be done. The Arkham Games pull it off and I even think they could do a little better with it.

This is never going to happen in a movie game. Especially with Activision involved.

I agree but I'm also fine with just one villain and a wellcrafted story: I always envied the movies that only had one villain (e.g. Spider-Man 2). The story of the SM2 game was way too bloated and distracting with the many subplots (although I agree, Mysterio was one of the best subplots ever). I just don't feel like Spider-Man when there are 10 villains all doing their OWN thing without acknowledging eachother. The only Spidey game I played that had villains that knew they co-exist in the world was Spider-Man 3. And that only let me fight venom in the grand finale (I always wanted to fight a huge Sandman as Spidey... well Goblin fight was cool though).

I'm going off-topic again, goddamn, but: I agree that a lot of villains work if the story is well done. If it's all just 20 subplots within 1 main plot and the villains are all isolated it's boring, distracting and annoying to say the least. A sinister six final fight would be beast though.

Doesn't have to be a movie game. But that's still not a good excuse. They're capable of more and they should be willing to put more effort, time, and resources into a product.
