Bill Beckman didn't have any ASM2 casting calls. The agency in charge of ASM2 was Grant Wilfley Casting.
Good to know!

A lot of people were claiming that Bill Beckman is legit because there were casting calls for TASM2. That's obviously not true.

I think carnage is a fun villain, but most of his stuff is style over substance.

Definitely. The majority of the people that like Carnage so much, don't even read comics and like him more for his concept than actual character. People do love crazy SOBs. Whereas most comic readers dislike him. Maximum Carnage is often considered to be one of the worst Spider-man stories. Since his debut he's only appeared in like maybe around 180 comics.

Carnage fanatics often try to compare him to the Joker. Yeah, Joker's a psychopath who hurts many, many people. But there is a method to his madness and most depictions of him do show him as having issues that go much deeper than just his violence - for instance, his fascination with trying to get inside people's heads and twist them into something more like him - and on some certain levels he does have some admirable qualities.

Carnage though... his entire thing is destruction. He kills people and that's it. He's more like Zsasz than Joker really.

I loved the line Joker (in a Marvel/DC crossover) says to Carnage, something along the lines of Carnage is the Hasslehoff of crime. I'm a Marvel fan and even I had to laugh at that.

If anything, the Goblins could be compared to the Joker, not Carnage.

I think Carnage is an interesting villain in concept. The idea of a psychopath serial killer with a symbiote is actually terrifying. But I don't know if he has had much luck with good writing in the comics. They could potentially do something very cool with him on film one day, but before you can do Carnage, you have to nail the Venom storyline first. One thing at a time. He would make for a good character/boss in a video game I suppose.

Carnage just slaughters, which is a a fun novelty but there's nothing of lasting value there IMO. Oh gosh, maximum carnage was so bad! They built a literal "love gun" to give carnage human emotions! But I can't lie, it's a guilty pleasure

Does anyone like Carnage more then Venom? They're both weak characters IMO.

Yes, I like Carnage more. He is a really fun character who's only purpose is madness. Although I haven't read any recent stories with the character, anything since the 90s really. I will always have nostalgia for the Monster-Ock finale in the 2000 Spider-Man videogame. Awesome.

 Such a fun game and an awesome way to conclude it.

I always found the idea of another classic villain (Ock, Green Goblin, Scorpion) acquiring the symbiote on film.

One thing for sure, I think S6 is dead. Proceeding now would be suicide (no pun intended). SS has A stars and a director that just delivered a quality movie 'AND' is taking the only USP (unique selling point) S6 had (super villain team up). S6 is dead.

Speaking of this game, I'm still annoyed that a sequel to the second one was never made. There were still plenty of villains to be used in that continuity and Spider-man was still considered a felon at the end.

The latest talk of S6 came from comicbookcast, and based on how they described it, it was basically a Spider-Man movie featuring the Sinister Six. It might as well be called "The Amazing Spider-Man 3."

Yeah, I always wanted a third one. I think it never happened because they ended up making the game adaptation of Sam Raimi's movie.

Those games were awesome. Had a great sense of adventure that many of the later Spider-man games just didn't have.

True. It felt like a loose adaptation of the 90s animated series. It was bright and colorful and did have this sense of adventure that a lot of other games seem to lack.

On some level. Yeah, but more that it gets tiresome seeing people post their opinion as fact. Not so much about someone attacked a character I liked. I wouldn't really call your posts "well supported opinions" when all you do is give a dismissive opinion and call it fact.

I challenge you to post the proof where I called my opinion a fact. I hate when people like you put words in someone's mouth to try and support their own weak position. It's one of the lowest forms of forum etiquette. You can't refute what I've been saying about Venom because it's so brilliantly well backed up with proof and facts, so you're trying to dismiss it as something it's not.

When you see me call my opinion a fact, then you can legitimately complain about it. Until then this is a total non issue stemming from a personal hang up of your own. One I believe has everything to do with you not liking seeing a character you love getting attacked. I bet if I looked through your post history I'd see a strong interest in Venom from you.

Carnage is even more shallow than Venom, and that's saying something. But Carnage is more entertaining to read. He's often witty, and at least he isn't doing his mindless slaughter routine for idiotic reasons like Venom's motive.

I think back the bank heist levels, the Stan Lee narration and plethora of extra costumes. There was a lot of pure fun in those games.

Oh give over. :whatever:

You post a bunch of verbose hyperbole about something you dislike and call it proof. You say things like Venom is a genuinely weak character. You may not outright say it, but your language is laden with it. Drop the melodrama.

No you give over. You unfairly started this rubbish, now you're being called on it. So either put up or drop it.

Of course I say Venom was a genuinely weak character. That is what I believe and I back that up. Nothing I said was hyperbole about the weakness of Venom as a villain. He has a poor motive for hating Spider-Man ("Spider-Man caught a serial killer. He ruined my life!!!"). He has never achieved anything noteworthy as an enemy to Spider-Man (unless you've read some story I haven't). The symbiote has been passed off to nearly any Tom, Dick or Harry in vain attempts to keep a stale one note character fresh (Flash Thompson of all people has it now). In comparison to Doc Ock and Green Goblin, Venom as a character and villain does not measure up to their stature and accomplishments and is therefore not worthy to be even considered as a greatest enemy to Spider-Man.

By all means to attempt to justify how any of this is hyperbole with facts and proof of your own.

Say what you will about SM3, but killing Harry Osborn is more notable than anything Venom ever did in the comics. Brock had a more personal and believable reason to hate Parker as well.

Absolutely

I think Venom has actually been turned into a more complex and more interesting villain thanks to other media outside the comics. His portrayal in the 90s animated series is classic, and I think Sony did a great job with him in TSSM cartoon. Heck, I think Raimi did an OK job with Venom. The problems lie more with the lack of character development and screentime, but conceptually I think it's good.

Agreed. The cartoons and movie handled him better than any comics did.

I think Agent Venom is a far superior symbiote story than venom himself.

I haven't really kept up with Agent Venom. I know he's with the GotG. How's that being received?
