Nothing about the way he looks screams nerd at all. He doesn't act like a nerd. He doesn't talk like a nerd. You could see him blending into any crowd in school.

That's what bugs me about all of the 'he's like a normal teenager' talk. Peter Parker is NOT supposed to be a normal teenager. He's supposed to be an outcast. He's like that in every version of Spider-Man that I know of before this one, including Ultimate Spider-Man.

Is WB to blame for forcing Joel Shoemaker to make Batman films lighter and to sell toys?

Yes.

Is WB to blame for Batnipples in the Shoemaker films?

No. That was Shoemaker's idea.

I can tell you now, Rhino was probably studio forced. A lighter and more colorful tone was maybe Sony. Having Alicia Keys and Kendrick was Sony. Having Hans and Pharrell was Sony.

Was having Electro look like a ****ing loser as Max Sony? No. Highly unlikely. Is Rhino barely speaking English Sony's fault? No.

There are some problems that Sony did and some Webb did.

Raimi is to blame for the dance scene but Sony is to blame for Venom.

*sigh* I guess you're right. Maybe i just got some things confused or maybe I thought no one else in the world would do some crazy things like this. But mostly I'm just sick of all the flack some talents recieved before its release when dealing with a pack of savages

Exactly. Peter Parker is the ultimate geek/nerd. I mean they even use that nerdy image and persona as a mirror image for his villains, notably with Doc Ock. The roundy glasses, being bullied in school, the nerdy persona and die hard love for Science etc. If Peter is the geek gone hero, then Octavius is the geek gone villain. The comics reflected that;

That's Peter Parker. Geek/nerd extraordinaire. I could never see Garfield's Peter like this.

Let's all stop the Tobey v Andrew talk and let's focus on the big issue: Sony editing down the film. TeeKay and the many others who saw test screenings loved it. Then all of them like it a lot less when they see the final product. Something went wrong somewhere.

Sony is doing what WB did with Batman.

They want to make a safe, marketable, action packed Spidey film that they thought can pack up the seats.

Same thing WB did with Batman Forever.

They need a director to take over Spidey and who tells Sony:

"Get the **** out and let me take control ****ers."

Maybe even add:

"You ****ers got involved in Spidey 3 which led to you rebooting the series. They you got involved in TASM2 which lead to you guys having your lowest grossing and received Spidey film.

I have a job to ****ing do and let me ****ing do it."

Flash wasn't even picking on him in the first film. He was picking on some other kid and Parker came to his rescue which is why Flash was angry with him. They went out of their way to make Parker look cool.

I don't know, he dresses like an outcast and he we see him get picked on. It's just that either we don't see him get picked on enough or that we don't see the whe school pick on him which if its probably like 10 or 15 that's great but the whole school that's insane.

Looking at the deleted scenes you can see there was a bigger plan there that got abandoned, its a shame he was great as Connors for what he was given

I know. I have the Blu-Ray.

Why they would cut the scenes, however, I do not know.

Everything I've seen described a handful of scenes and shots being cut, that they thought were done better in the original cut. Not a complete overhaul of the film as with something like Kingdom of Heaven or Gods and Generals.

Before he kid get picked on flash hitter Peter with a basketball. But I ask you even if Peter was in that position what kind of school would cheer about you bring harassed?

And you didn't think he was an outcast in TASM? He came across to me as one, he was always on his own, kept himself to himself with his own interests. shy around girls

I can understand because I was abit of an outcast at school and he pretty much nailed it, but a lot of people haven't been in that situation so they expect to cliche geek in order so they can recognise it, what we actually got was a more modern and more complex Peter Parker and Andrew did act like a teenager just from his mannerisms

If Garfield's Peter isn't an outcast, then I don't know who is.

Seriously, the guy didn't have one friend in the beginning of the first film, until he met Gwen.

And in the second film when he finally gets to have two friends at once, one of them ends up killing the other one.

Peter's back to square one. At this stage, he has no friends.

From the outset he didn't seem like an outcast. A girl casually came up to ask him in a friendly way for a favor as a photographer, he stood up to Flash when he was picking on that other kid which shows self confidence which outcasts rarely have, he conned his way into Oscorp by pretending to be someone else, and being shy or keeping to yourself doesn't make you an outcast. It makes you a loner. Outcasts get picked on for being outcasts. They get taunted and bullied. They lack confidence. Nobody speaks to them unless it's to mock them.

There was nothing modern or complex about this version of Peter. Forcing out of character traits for Peter like the skateboarding and the sitting in class with a hoodie on were totally unnecessary to make him feel like a teenager. They just served to make him more non Peter Parker like. Peter doesn't need rubbish like that to look like a teen.

ASM Peter Parker reminds me of the teens that go, "Oh my god, I'm so awkward!" when in actuality pretty well-adjusted socially, merely getting into occasionally awkward situations -- which is not the same thing. Sure, he may not have friends, but the second component to him being an outcast is that he's consistently **** on. No one seems to outright dislike him, even Flash to an extent.

Outcast isn't the same thing as socially ******ed.

Tobey's Peter was socially ******ed AND an outcast.

Garfield's Peter is just an outcast, pretty much by choice.

After flash finished beating up Peter one of the kids kicked his camera very hard.

Also nerds do dress like that and I've seen nerds and geeks skateboard and in one of the deleted scenes when we see Peter failing to skateboard people mocked him for it

Outcast isn't the same thing as socially ******ed.

Yes it is because outcasts don't know how to be socially functional because they never get the chance.

Tobey's Peter was socially ******ed AND an outcast.

Don't try and turn this into a Tobey discussion.

Garfield's Peter is just an outcast, pretty much by choice.

Which makes him a fool and nothing like Peter Parker. Peter doesn't be an outcast by choice. He wants friends and to be accepted.

Flash dislikes him also we can't expect the whole school to be hating on him

Peter has no friends and is pretty much ignored.

How is that not enough?

He doesn't seem to be an outcast by choice. He seems to be just an outcast like myself. We even share the same mannerisms

Yeah so? It's because he stood up to Flash for picking on that other kid.

Nerds like Peter Parker, or rather the nerd Peter is supposed to be doesn't dress like that.

I don't care what's in the deleted scenes. I care about what we were given. That's what counts.

Can we just talk about how the the third film and its future installments can be improved already?
