Agreed..and as far as Spider-Man setting off the current trend, let's not forget about X-Men in 2000. Spidey was the bigger flick money wise but X-Men was a hit and showed people that Batman and Robin would not be the trend these movies followed. I bet if you talked to the people at Marvel, they may even give a lot of props and respect to Blade before both of those.

Oh and I wasn't agreeing with the gods part lol, I was agreeing with Oscorp's opinion about Tim Burton's Batman

Agreed! They are gods, IMO.

Woah there horsey...

They are competent filmakers and actors who acheived something special/unique (if overated at times) but couldn't quite maintain it despite their best efforts.

Its still the best superhero trilogy so far though.

We have much to thank them for.

Good point.

I still enjoy the 89 Batman movie more than Nolan's films, it's up to TDKR to show me a film to enjoy more

Woah there buckaroo, let's keep them on their level

Dark Knight90! makes sense, you should follow what that one said

Yeah Dark Knight definitely has the right mindset..the minute we start making men into gods, problems happen lol..plus it becomes hard to criticize or look at them fairly

If Raimi is God, then I can't imagine what Nolan is

Overrated. :hehe:

I only find them slightly overrated because everyone all of sudden likes them now, because of the Joker. That's not bad, Joker in TDK was simply awe-inspiring, but having a cool villain isn't a reason to hump the movies leg. I still think BB and TDK are amazing (For some reason I prefer BB over TDK) and if TDKR deliverers, the Nolan movies will be THE superhero trilogy.

What I think Nolan achieved is to take the superhero genre seriously. Raimi's first Spider Man was very entertaining, specially at the time. But looking it back, after all the superhero movies we had, it's a little dated. The story is very comic-booky.
I'm not saying is good or bad, I'm just saying that just like X Men opened the first era of succesful superhero movies, BB/TDK probably opened the second era, with smaller amount of comic book style, and more in tone of a movie taken seriously. Not just for kids, not anymore.
The Amazing Spider-Man it's tricky, they are apparently trying to get away from the Raimi's films, but on the other hand the Spider Man comic books are not as dark as some other superheroes. So I'm guessing there's a fine line they have to walk through. I have faith though, I like what I've seen so far.
(The Avengers is still a mystery for me, as for the tone)

I agree that TDK is slightly overrated when people say that it's the perfect comic book film. There are some flaws even in TDK, and no comic book movie is perfect so far and no film probably will be. Being perfect means that it nails everything.

However, I do think both BB and TDK are the best comic book movies so far

I love the new poster. And I love the tagline. Very clear, effective way to tell the audience they're in for something different this time around. It sets the mood and mystery of the film/campaign.

Honestly, I never liked any of the Raimi posters. The colors never blended well. Gold/Orange/Red. It looked so tasteless. This poster has edge, and is trying to set the tone with it's look rather than its splash of colors.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Good points all around

Yes. Agreed.

First off, Blade (1998) and X-Men (2000) started the trend of "well done comic films" with Spider-Man (2002) bringing even more notarity to the genre given the sheer popularity of the character itself and quality of the film (overall overrated but that's another discussion).

Second, I like the poster but I hate the tag line. Also, where are the colors in the poster? Still a little meh overall.

I hate the spider design is exactly the same as the prior trilogy, and that tag line are both screaming "politcal correctness" ala not offending anyone who liked the prior trilogy, trying to hang unto the audience any way they can, even though this is a clear cut REBOOT.

Given it's a reboot, I want it treated as such, new images and designs, no ties to the prior trilogy, originality, etc.

I admit Batman Begins could have lended itself somewhat near in the same world as Batman 1989, alot of things were still mysterious and you could say this or that could be in the same universe.

I would say Amazing Spider-Man is a gamble on Sony's part, so tying it to the prior trilogy in so many ways is a safeguard to ensure that if it fails, you can say it's part of the Raimi films.

If it is a success, then off they go to sequel-ville and forget the past trilogy, much like Batman Begins / Dark Knight etc.

Hope the trailer rocks my world.
