This is a continuation thread, the old thread is [split]372291[/split]
I think Nolan's Batman films are the best Batman films ever, but that still doesn't make me forget Batman '89.

Indeed. We have Sam Raimi & co. to thank for the current comicbook film boom.

Agreed..and as far as Spider-Man setting off the current trend, let's not forget about X-Men in 2000. Spidey was the bigger flick money wise but X-Men was a hit and showed people that Batman and Robin would not be the trend these movies followed. I bet if you talked to the people at Marvel, they may even give a lot of props and respect to Blade before both of those.
Woah there buckaroo, let's keep them on their levelAgreed! They are gods, IMO.

If Raimi is God, then I can't imagine what Nolan is
What I think Nolan achieved is to take the superhero genre seriously. Raimi's first Spider Man was very entertaining, specially at the time. But looking it back, after all the superhero movies we had, it's a little dated. The story is very comic-booky.
I'm not saying is good or bad, I'm just saying that just like X Men opened the first era of succesful superhero movies, BB/TDK probably opened the second era, with smaller amount of comic book style, and more in tone of a movie taken seriously. Not just for kids, not anymore.
The Amazing Spider-Man it's tricky, they are apparently trying to get away from the Raimi's films, but on the other hand the Spider Man comic books are not as dark as some other superheroes. So I'm guessing there's a fine line they have to walk through. I have faith though, I like what I've seen so far.
(The Avengers is still a mystery for me, as for the tone)

I only find them slightly overrated because everyone all of sudden likes them now, because of the Joker. That's not bad, Joker in TDK was simply awe-inspiring, but having a cool villain isn't a reason to hump the movies leg. I still think BB and TDK are amazing (For some reason I prefer BB over TDK) and if TDKR deliverers, the Nolan movies will be THE superhero trilogy.
