No it wasn't. "Times Square" was garbage in terms of the population. Far too underpopulated.
like I said, maybe next gen. If they were to attempt anything quite like whats in that picture, expect to see constant inconsistent frame rate drops and overall graphical downgrade across the game as all those people chew up the limited memory

Absolutely. I nominate Sucker Punch.
maybe if and when Activision ever loses the license. Till then, that unfortunately aint happening anytime soon. I think Spider-man needs a new publisher more than it does a new developer

Can't find better nominees

And the devs should be owned by someone other than Activision, or be freelance like it seems to be the case with the developers of Spider-Man Friend or Foe and the Captain America movie tie-in

Yea i dont think the license is up until 2017 and by then theres no telling what Disney will want to do with the license.

Yes.

EDIT: I want to see something like this:
times_square_traffic.jpg
Lots of people. Feels the city is alive.

been wishing for this as well. is it really that hard to do in a video game?
and at least making the streets more pop. too.

we're screwed if they go and sign with Activision for another 10 years

yes bc that all takes memory and doing so would cause the framerate to take a major hit, which would slow things down inconsistently. Considering the game is free-roam with one big open city, they would have to scale back the graphics considerably to compensate for that. An ugly and slow but more populated game or one that runs and looks well but isnt as dense? I think most would go with the latter.

Getting a realistically populated New York is probably never gonna happen. Eats memory as Havok said and the A.I. for it would probably be a huge pain for some poor suckers. And even then, this don't apply to Spider-Man as much as GTA, but to much pedestrians means that getting around the town will be more of a hassle, I thought GTA4 was almost to crowded from time to time. In a Spider-Man game where you don't spend that much time on the streets, it would probably just be a waste as well since you don't really notice it. (But of course, no pedestrians as in that pic sucks equally.)

Yea its a fine line. For the most part i thought GTA IV has done a better job than anyone else in gaming, altho there were some sections, like their time square that i thought didn't feel right due to the population(or lack there of). As long as the peds act like they should during the middle of one of Spideys thug out battles with a giant boss, then it should be fine. I keep thinking to the battle with those giant monsters from inFamous 2.

FYI, the Hero HQ Facebook site just confirmed that side-missions will be available, as well as bonus challenges and mini-games.

As long as they reference "HE STOLE DAT GAIZ PEETZUH!" I'll be fine with pizza missions. :oldrazz:

I'm with Beenox on this one. Let's see how well they can do with a full development cycle before we run them outta town. They have done some interesting things thus far and I have faith that they can deliver a top notch product. If TAS sucks...I'll be the first to grab my torch and pitchfork.

The pizza missions were epic. :awesome:

If they can just give us a solid game, ill be impressed. Its extremely tough to deliver a good video game based on a movie. Too many restrictions. I just hope this will be better than Spider-Man 3 or Spider-Man: WoS, granted that is not a high bar to surpass, but i just dont want to go through the pain of playing a spidey game as poor as those 2.

The big difference between TAS the game and SM3 or even SM2 the games is that although TAS is about the movie character version of Spidey the story for the game takes place after the events of the movie. It serves as an epilogue. This has an advantage because Beenox will not be hampered by the plot of the movie and having to try to conform to that story and "force things to work." They came up with an original story penned by a solid writer (his name escapes me at the moment) and this will make for a better experience because they have more freedom to work.

From what I have read Beenox is hard at work to bring us a top notch high quality game. I hope they can deliver and I have faith that they will. It had better blow WoS out of the water! :woot:

Dont get your hopes up. The video game adaptation of Iron Man 2 also served as an epilogue and look at how that turned out. Regardless of when the game takes place, Beenox has strict guidelines as to what they can and can't do, what characters can and can't be added etc etc.

Id be concerned about the quality of this game even if it wasn't tied in with a movie, but couple that with Beenox's poor track record and I'm not expecting much. I hope I'm dead wrong tho.

I am not expecting much either, well, at least not til I see some unedited gameplay footage featuring some mechanics showing webswinging and combat...at that point it will be easier to make more of a 'call' as to whether or not they are on the right track.

Beenox is being given a full development cycle for this game and that's the first time that they have been able to do that for Spidey. They are being given a chance to show what they are capable of and even though in most people's eyes SD and EoT were not so good, Beenox showed they are great at the overall presentation. Again, I have faith in them because I believe they truly care about the character. Plus, they have stated that they are using other well known and fan-loved Spidey games as inspiration. Only time will tell, but I'm giving them a fair shot.

I don't think you can compare Iron Man 2 and this game. They've been hard at work on this game for quite some time. Sega saw the Iron Man 2 trailer and then were like oh crap we better make a game about this.

Haha yea I don't think this will be as bad as that( that's tough to do) but my point still stands. We have a mediocre developer making a game based off a movie under a notoriously anti creativity publisher. There aren't many ways this thing can end positively. Not saying it can't happen, but damn if the odds aren't completely stacked against them.

I don't think this development cycle is any longer than what they had for SD. They said that development for this game has been going on for around a year, but that's not the full dev team, half of them were still at work on EoT.

I'll give Beenox credit where it's due and that's the fact that they clearly like the character but in their 2 Spidey outings(ranging from decent to downright putrid) they had far more strikes than home runs.

Is it wrong that I just want to see some gameplay footage? Teaser trailer was good, the latest image is really good, but how about showing us this new gameplay mechanic, Spider-rush or web-rush or whatever it called.

Just show us the game being played. I want to see how Spidey looks when he swings through New York. And hopefully a larger New York City than we've had in the past.

Sega, Sega, SEEEGAAAAAA

Cool

What kind of side missions i wonder? We talking rescuing balloons again?

Now, delivering pizzas and taking Mary Jane Gwen Stacy on romantic websling rides....that's hardcore.

Haha ouch, even worse.
Eh, it's just swinging with minor requirements, nothing to jump out of the window panicking for, or :cmad: on

I need anime disappointment emotion for that.

I'll take a deep breath cause I never went near IM2 the game
