It's said that the line she's hanging onto breaks from one of the gears. Goblin is pinned down by something and Peter doesn't make it to her in time. His web snaps her neck and he holds her in his arms trying to wake her up but she's dead. Blood comes from out of her nose.
I have just got back from seeing the movie... my thoughts...
I have to say webb has gone several grades up with his directing, emotional scenes and action scenes, the part with peters parents at the start is surprisingly powerful emotionally, really sad and keeps you on the edge of your seat
and i don't care what you say electro was menacing as hell, people can say he was a weak villain character wise if they like but visually he was damn awesome and that made it worth it, probably some won't think so but if you like powerful god like electro you should love this
there is a shot i loved where oscorp lit bright up with electricity flowing through it and you just hear electros voice echoing from it menacingly, its hard to describe you actually have to see it
and the ending...
Webb knew everyone is expecting gwen to die and he uses that to make the situation and moment tense as hell and when it comes to that moment... webb makes sure you watch and feel every moment while you wait for it to happen and when it happened... it wasn't sugar coated at all, there was no snap but you can tell what happened
Dane as harry osborn makes the characters his own, although because of [BLACKOUT]the osborn curse[/BLACKOUT] he becomes desperate quite early on
While andrew as peter parker is still perfectly suited, you can tell he is having fun playing the role and when he has to be play it emotionally... he really pulls you in
Now if i had to say 1 issue that has been mentioned in the reviews is that it does feel like a very long movie because there is so much happening and so much they felt they needed to get through with peter and harry juggling 2 personal storys back and forth and occasionally mixing so its not like the raimi films at all in that respect, not that they are bad personal storys they have a purpose but you do have to invest in alot for this film
Overall the action scenes are steps up from TASM and the film in general feels bigger, webb seems more relaxed with his directing and for the most part really brings the emotion

Really loved this movie, so far its easily my favorite comic book movie of the year. No question better than Captain America. Days of Future Past may change that though. I thought they excelled at mixing the comedy and drama while keeping a good pace. Never thought it was too overcrowded or anything like that. Andrew Garfield is just phenomenal, he is Spider-Man plain and simple. He hits the comedy bits perfectly and the drama he is crazy good at. So damn believable and the relationship with Gwen is the best ever in comic book movies by far. The movie is beautiful and colorful to look at and the cg is great. Holy crap though, the action is crazy amazing. Such a delight to the eyes. Ah its hard to describe its amazingness. I can't wait to see what they do with ASM 3. 9.5/10
Your post encapsulates how I expect to feel about this film, as it applies to all the things I loved about TASM1. I just have the misfortune of having to wait 2 more weeks to find out!
Exactly, there isn't a body. no funeral no memorial service announced, nothing. Menken was Normans number 2. Norman isn't going to put Harry in charge given his feelings towards him. he'd know that Menken could attempt a take over. It's not like Norman to not have contingences. I just think that there's more afoot with Norman than we've been led to believe.
A faked death could also be the reason the Head scene was cut
Just saw it. So here are some rough thoughts on it. Mostly just what irked me.
I had fun, but felt overall it was fairly week and just tried too much and didn't have a strong enough story. To me Garfield & Stone were the strongest part of the movie with some really strong scenes together, but were sadly surrounded by a lot of hammy acting and dialogue. The action was pretty fun too, but like much of the movie it often just crosses far into cartoon territory.
Jamie Foxx does a good job with a lot of his lines and even makes some of them work, but ultimately his character was never that interesting or well developed enough for me to really care. Fun to watch him fight Spider-man, but a terrible attempt at a backstory hampers investment in the character.
Dehaan I thought was a very good Harry for the most part, but the moment he became Goblin it was downhill with another overacted performance that took away from the movie for me and really made it hard to care for Gwen's 'moment' that followed shortly.
I also found the soundtrack a bit obnoxious at times. I have to say I prefer it when soundtracks know their place and just try to inform you on the emotion of the scene and try and not beat you over the head with it. I felt like Electro was two seconds from bursting out with his own version of 'Let it go' from Frozen at the Times Sq battle.
Though saying that it was still enjoyable, just not that great. I think the film really suffers from trying to do too much at once and came off with a sense of not really knowing what it wanted to be and moving too far into cartoon territory that it jars fairly heavily at times with the previous movie (and possibly with its own more serious scenes). Though I may personally like this one over the first I think the first could arguably be the stronger movie.
Just to add that my young niece and her mum just thought it was awesome. My sister even prefers Garfield to Maguire.

Did they do the Goblin/Spider-man battle justice this time around? Any aerial battles or chases similar to Harry/Peter in SM3? I felt the Spider-man/Goblin action scenes in Raimi's SM1 were rather stale since the two characters were confined to one place when fighting.

Battle was pretty good imo. However it was again fairly close quarters. Arguably more so than SM1. So no flying/chasing round New York. It is largely what you see in trailers and taken from there. Though clearly things can be rectified for a sequel considering both characters are still around.
Edit: I will say one other thing about the battle though. I'll try to remain non-spoilery, but it's probably best people read this after seeing the movie and not go in coloured by what I've said here. So I'm putting it in spoiler tags anyway. You have been warned.
It really irked me and almost had me swearing 'FFS' outloud in the cinema. You will see a 'hand' at a particular point. You'll know what I mean when you see it. I just think it was just too silly and completely inappropriate for the weight that moment should have had.
