This movie looks sweet and like the "Transformers" of the YouTube world. Here's a plot synopsis and pictures and links from the movie which comes out 6/20/08. The CGI is unfinished in all the trailers and pictures, but we will see finished CGI when the full length film is released.

Plot Summary: "Michelle is not your average high school student. Strange dreams, visions and the feeling that someone is constantly watching have plagued her days and nights for a long, long time. Jack on the other hand, is quite the opposite. Quiet, reserved and a few notches below popular, he surprises everyone and himself when he establishes a friendship with Michelle. However, when a mysterious comet flies over the northern hemisphere, it triggers a series of events that creates a catastrophic war between unearthly, almost "godlike" beings, with Michelle and Jack right in the middle of it."

I'm not quite sure how a film shown for free on YouTube is going to be a "blockbuster", but the tiny bits seen so far look OK. An above-average film student project, I'd guess.

If the film gets over 5 million views on YouTube, Freestyle Releasing has offered to put it in theatres. There has not been much buzz about the film on YouTube yet so I was hoping this thread may help. Even if it doesn't reach 5 million views, I know it's gonna be awesome!

New images of some of the CGI characters from "The Apostasy" have surfaced!

Check 'em out!

Ophan_by_madmaestro3000.jpg

This is Ophan, a worshipper and server of Amuniris, from his production company's independent sci-fi film, "The Apostasy". He desires nothing more than to serve his Lord and Master and crush all those who oppose him. In the movie, he stands somewhere between 6 and 7 feet tall. His shoulder cannons double as wings.

This is Amuniris, the main antagonist from his production company's independent sci-fi film, "The Apostasy". In the movie, he stands somewhere between 15 and 20 feet tall. He was the self-proclaimed God of his and Duqoole's home planet.

This is the profile of the protagonist of "The Apostasy", Duqoole. He was a highly revered Prophet of his people on his homeworld, until he foresaw the downfall of Amuniris, their self-proclaimed God. Outraged by this "blasphemy", he exiled Duqoole to the Planet Earth.

Pretty cool, right? And the film comes out tommorow! Woot-woot!:woot:

Finally! After a long wait, the fourth and final CGI character that will be featured in "The Apostasy is revealed! Seraphim!

And although you'll have to suffer a bit more, we finally decided to whet your whistles by getting off our lazy butts and finishing the THEATRICAL TRAILER. Please give your opinion!

Well, I'll start off with what I liked - certainly, your special effects were quite good.

However, the build-up really didn't carry itself very well. There was just silence as they were walking, and it didn't really seemed to be needed. I think it would have been better if the guy had been trying to engage Michelle in some witty banter before asking if she was OK when she didn't catch on.

I mean, I like it when someone can do that "silent scene", but it has to be done right, and just looking at that scene in isolation, it doesn't work. Either cut it, or re-shoot it.

And then there's the acting. It looks very stiff and forced. They need to get a bit more comfortable in front of the camera. That, and the "you ever seen anything like that?" question didn't seem at all real. It felt like the actor was delivering a line, as opposed to the actor being the character.

Essentially, those are two very basic traps you can fall into with amateur photography. Don't get me wrong, it's probably better than anything I can do, but I feel that, if you really want to get the best product, then I'm best off being as blunt as I can (and telling you how to improve, of course).

Looking at some of the promo pictures, I'm getting a very strong Evangelion vibe from their designs, especially these two:

I won't bother repeating what he said but I'll add that it is also spoilt because at the start when the guys looks at the girl he also glances straight into the camera... And like Wellsy said, the effects do look good and the premise seems pretty interesting.

I have new info on the production of "The Apostasy", unfortunately, it's very secret and I'm not allowed to tell you guys yet. Here's a message I got from the director:

"First of all, sorry for not saying anything to you about The Apostasy. I've been completely swamped at school. Luckily, it's ending soon. Hopefully, the footage at LOL Films kept you occupied for a little while.

But, your patience and loyalty will now be greatly rewarded. The reward being TOP SECRET INFORMATION. DO NOT repeat what I'm about to tell you to anyone else! Only our closest friends know about this.

Here is the complete truth about The Apostasy:"

And that is where it ends to the point that I can't say anymore. All I can say is "The Apostasy" IS coming soon, and it WILL be awesome. That's all for now.
