Intention is something you or I care about. I'm not arguing morality, or my opinion of worth or heroism, just pointing out that Odin's is consistent, even if we disagree with it. The hammer showed that it doesn't care about that stuff only the actual action, the actual result, the actual sacrifice. Steve budging the hammer, and Tony who almost died not budging it, is the first indication in film that the hammer cares even a little a bit about intention and willingness and character. A fact that Thor, intensely familiar with both Odin and the Hammer, is surprised by.

mmkay whatever mang
gunna have to agree to forcefully disagree on this one

What do we even disagree on? -shrug-

Is it really so impossible that Odin might have a different standard of worthiness than we do? Is there anything in the films that says he doesn't?

But I want Nick Fury to hold the hammer .......... and Black Widow ....... and Hawkeye!!!!! rabble rabble rabble rabble.

Maybe its a thing where you have to be Asgardian and be worthy. Not just worthy?

I can See Thor and Cap at some point interchange weapons during Battle.
Like a cross fire between the two throwing each others weapon toward the other.
Say for instance Ultron is used to Thor always using Mjolnir and his plans are BASED on each individual using that SAME weapon all the time. What happens when those weapons are given to another individual? The uses of the weapon would more than likely change confusing Ultron

That would be so, so utterly awesome. Extra points for Widow with a bow and Bruce Hulking out from inside some armor.

I just think that would be the dumbest "standard of worthiness" ever

who cares if someone died or not, they both took the same actions
so the plane just happened to not fully kill Steve, I really don't see the difference

the intention is literally alllllll that matters

hence the grenade scene in the first Cap, which proved to General Lee Jones that Steve deserved the SSS, and was better than any of the other soldiers.
just because the grenade was a dud, should he have change his mind?

like, "oh he jumped on it, but he didn't die, so f*** 'em"...?

So maybe "Whosoever" means 'Asgardian' to Odin? Possibly, but I'm betting it's the worthy part that's different. It would explain Steve budging it as he may be 'almost worthy' but he's definitely not 'almost Asgardian.'

i found the mjolnir worthyness code:

Asgardian + risk his life for something/someone + blonde (important)

You both are looking too much into it. It was a fun scene that plays with the mythic mjlonir. It foreshadows Steve lifting it. That's it. I don't think the standard, or definition of worthiness was taken into consideration when having Steve budge it

Its awesome when they exchange weapons. Like when Bucky used Caps shield. Sounds like Widow might use it in AOU. You gotta be white/blonde/worthy! Gotta be it

I think "WHOSEVER" means just that. If one of Ant-Man's ants is worthy then they would become Thunder-Ant.
I still Think it's not just a "curse" on Mjolnir. I do believe Mjolnir is somewhat Sentient, and can choose who IS or who ISN'T worthy

Bucky and Cap didn't "exchange" though. Bucky just picked it up on his own and there's no enchantment on the SHIELD to begin with.

I didnt mean exchange in that instance. He borrowed it and doesnt have his own signature weapon. And no theres no enchantment on the SHIELD of course
